So immediately noticed a potential problem with Last Spartan Standing.
Played a round, got three Melee Kills for the Challenge, I ended up dying, game said I could quit without penalty or losing progress on the Challenges, so I did, and when I go to the main menu and check my Challenge progress there are 0 Melee Kills in my Melee Challenge and 0 out of 2 Last Spartan Standing game completions.
So if this is a case where we have to stick around for the full game, even if you die early, and have to wait until the end of the round in order for your Challenges to count…uh…yeah, there’s a bit of a problem there.
I need to make a correction. Played a second match, waited until the end, and both my Play 2 Matches of Last Spartan Standing and 3 Melee Kills were completed. So there seems to either be a delay or you need to actually complete a match for your previous progress to count I guess.
Whatever is going on, it needs to be fixed. It’s ridiculous and bad design from a fun perspective to force players who’ve been eliminated to spectate until the end of a match for their challenges to track. This is a mode that’s designed to become increasingly lopsided against losing players, so most participants are eliminated in quick succession. Forcing the majority of players to sit and spectate 50% or more of the match time-wise in order to complete their event passes? Disrespectful of players’ time and very un-fun.
Not loving Last Spartan Standing in general so far, personally, but this issue makes any distaste I have for it a lot worse.
Please note that when leaving a Last Spartan Standing session before it ends, some Challenges will not update until that match ends. If you left a match early due to being eliminated, it may take several minutes for that match to end and your Challenge progress to update.
I can see why people would like it and I did have a little bit of fun when I tried my two matches of it, but with how quickly its becoming apparent where the playstyle to victory will be to hide and camp to get your best odds to victory…that’s just not my thing. That’s not how I want to play Halo so if this is supposed to be a taste of a Battle Royale to see how players will like it…I can say that I’m not going to like it.
You’ll see your progress once the match finishes. This had been pretty well communicated, but undoubtedly many won’t know, so please spread the word so we can keep the criticism relevant.
I expect that the “true” BR mode will be substantially different, but I agree with your concerns re: LSS. I’ll be playing it to hopefully clear this event pass and then avoiding it going forward, personally.
Thanks for pointing this out! I should’ve read the release notes but was too eager to dig in and play the new content. Still don’t personally enjoy Last Spartan Standing much, but my concerns over progression on challenges have been addressed.
If you got “complete Last spartan standing” challenge like me then you are out of luck… you either win or spectate to the end, if you quit it doesnt count it.
343… i know you want us to buy your exp and challenge swaps, but your system doesnt work. Get back to MCC exp system.
What a mess of a gamemode btw, it is fun but it has some amateur vibes, like when you played Diablo 2 maps on StarCraft, i was expecting something better implemented. Maybe this is why these challenges doesnt work properly (unless you stay as an expectator)
As we’ve discussed earlier in the thread, there does seem to be a delay where the match needs to “officially” complete even after you leave. Your progress will count in a few minutes after it does.
My bad, thanks. It was weird because my first match didnt count, but the point did, and then i got the other… it is a weird way to count the progress of the game, but as long its works, im fine with it
Not only is it the worst mode I have ever played but you also have to waste your time to get points after you have no lifes left… You also lose a gun by leveling up even tho you might wanted to keep it like the pistol. It is simply THE WORST
