Last of the Remaining True SPARTANS

Like many of you who are devout fans of Halo’s expansive fiction, I too have taken a dislike towards the SPARTAN-IVs for a number of reasons (yet over time, it has started to wane a bit). In this forum, I shall address one of many of my personal opinions as to why nobody seems to care about the SPARTAN-IVs:

THERE ARE STILL TRUE SPARTANS ALIVE OUT THERE IN THE GALAXY; BOTH SPARTAN-IIS AND SPARTAN-IIIS.

The thought that these heroes helped win the Human-Covenant War and survive it, only to be [sidelined/replaced] afterwards by a group of adult volunteers is nothing more than a [disgrace/insult] to both the true Spartans who are still alive, as well as the memories of their siblings-in-arms who gave their lives to defend humanity. Honestly, I would much rather place the overall security and welfare of the galaxy on a select number of specialized individuals than a couple hundred military veterans; or as Shadow-Cortana called them: “children playing dress-up”.

Here is a list of almost all known active true SPARTANS from both the SPARTAN-II and SPARTAN-III programs:

SPARTAN-II

  • Blue Team (John-117; Fred-104; Kelly 087; Linda-058) - STATUS: Stationed aboard UNSC INFINITY, currently evading Created-controlled Forerunner Guardians - Red Team (Jerome-092; Douglas-042; Alice-130) - STATUS: Stationed aboard UNSC SPIRIT OF FIRE, currently orbiting Installation 00 - The Ark - Gray Team (Jai-006; Adriana-111; Mike-120) - STATUS: Retrieved by Office of Naval Intelligence [ONI]. Whereabouts unknown - Naomi-010 - STATUS: Assigned to Kilo-Five - Whereabouts unknownSPARTAN-III

  • Alpha Company: ??? - Beta Company: (Tom-B292; Lucy-B091) STATUS: Security personnel on Planet Onyx [Trevelyan] - Gamma Company: ??? - Location Unknown; (Ash-G099; Olivia-G291; Mark-G313) - STATUS: Assigned to ONI Ferret unit; whereabouts unknownListen, 343: I understand the need to expand the universe in this Second Generation of HALO; but these true SPARTANS (as well as those with personal ties to them: both Catherine Halsey and Franklin Mendez) survived the war for a reason, [probably/obviously] for some greater divine purpose, like John-117. We want more stories about these surviving warriors; we want to learn more about their experiences after the war, how they are coping with the state of the post-war galaxy, as well as their ultimate fate.

Look, what I am getting at here is this: we the fans do not care all that much about the fourth generation of ‘Spartans’. We want to learn more about the last surviving true SPARTANS, and what role they have to play in this second generation of HALO.

So, what are your thoughts about this? Are there any true SPARTANS that I may have missed? How would you want 343 Industries to cover the stories of the surviving SPARTANS? What would be the ultimate fate for these heroes (as well as both Halsey and Mendez)? If so, please point them out, and give me your thoughts; and as always:

KEEP IT CLEAN! RESPECT PUBLIC PROPERTY!

P.S. As you can see, I intentionally left out Serin-019, Musa-096 and Jun-A266 out for my own personal reasons, which I would rather not bring up for fear of incurring the wrath of the dreaded Internet Trolls. Let’s just say that I am [annoyed/disappointed/mighty pissed] at these characters, [especially/particularly] the last one.

P.P.S. I would very much like to hear your thoughts/opinions about this train of thought that I have had, but be courteous, respectful and give constructive feedback only.

  • Robert, Leon, and August of Spartan Team Omega are still believed to be alive after the Covenant war as well - Maria is retired (only one I know of who successfully retired) - A bunch have been presumed KIA during the Fall of Reach but no confirmation on whether or not they are actually dead - There are also a handful of washouts if you want to count them as Spartans as well, but I generally don’t since the augmentations didn’t work. You could make the argument that they are Spartans in spirit, just not in the traditional sense. Commander Musa and Serin Osman would fall into this categoryI’m not as familiar with the Spartan III program members, but Jun-A266 is still alive and kicking from Alpha Company.

Wasn’t this already posted like a month ago? Also the monicure of true Spartan is Frank BS as that would exclude the s2 and s3 program as the only “true” Spartans would be Orion project spartans.

Halo Battleborn will feature some Spartan II or III. It will be interesting to see who it is.

Yeah, I decided to clean it up to get more people to actually give their thoughts about this.
Oh, yeah; Project ORION. But almost little to no one remembers about the very first initiative to make ‘super soldiers’, apart from a few exceptions.

  • Oh, right. Forgot about them. But I thought they were just non-canonical for Halo Wars 2 Multiplayer. - Shoot. Also forgot about her. - Personally, I do not care for Musa and Serin, obviously because of their bitter hate for Halsey, even though they damn well knew the risks when they were ‘recruited’. - Again, I am disappointed as to how Jun turned out. But again, my personal opinion.

I know, right? Which is why I would very much like to know how 343 plans to bring about the ultimate fate of these SPARTANS.

Omega makes an appearance in the campaign, so I consider them to be canon.

As far as Musa and Serin, they do hate Halsey, but I don’t see why that is a bad thing. She was a pretty awful person who stole children and turned them into super soldiers for the sole purpose of crushing human insurrectionists. There is plenty of evidence after the fact to show that the ends justified the means, but that doesn’t change the fact that she stole children and effectively brainwashed them. To say that they knew the risk as six year old children is quite a stretch, but I do see what you mean so far as they seemingly suddenly hate her with little ground work laid, canonically speaking, before then.

I am genuinely curious as to why you don’t like how Jun turned out though. What don’t you like about him? I mean, I can see some annoyance with the fact that he became little more than a rush captain for the Spartan IV program. But for me, I quite enjoy seeing a Spartan in a recruiting capacity considering that just about all of them are combat specialists and little more.

What’s Halo Battleborn?

While i want to know more about the surviving spartan 2’s and 3’s, i also enjoy the spartan 4’s and disagree that they are not “true” spartans. While the tech has advanced so adult subjects can be used, rather than kids, i don’t see how this means they are any less of a spartan. The people in the Orion project are the only “true” spartans if i go by your definition. The Spartan 3’s if you recall, were poorly armored, drugged up, and were just throwaway soldiers, not expected to ever go beyond A mission, let alone many. The Spartan 4’s fixed these “issues” if you will, and has advanced the tech even further. The human-covenant war may be officially over, but that doesn’t mean the men and women who volunteer for the new program are any less of a soldier than there predesssors were.

It’s a new Halo Halo young adult fiction novel written by Cassandra Rose Clarke. It’s set on the planet of Meridian during the Human-Covenant war. I got my copy a couple of days ago. It seems pretty legit this far.
