I am looking for three people to play in the Halo 5 last chance qualifier on February 6th. It is just for fun and isn’t meant to be taken seriously. Really just for teh lulz. But hey, then you can say you played in an MLG tournament. And who knows? We could be the next EG and win it, go to regionals, and win the 2 million dollar tournament. I don’t care about points you just have a mic and positive K/D. If interested message me on Xbox. Gamertag is Maximum Clutch.

Sigh… another person who thinks KD means everything. It’s shocking that so many people don’t get it.
At this level it DOES man something. I know I’m not gonna get God squad communication and placing so at the very least I need someone who knows how to at least kill stuff.

No, it doesn’t. My team has played in every HCS tournament this month and we will be playing in the Last Chance as well. As someone who is going through this through the first time, let me personally assure you that merely being able to kill stuff gets you absolutely nothing in this scene. I thought the same thing at first, and I was horribly wrong.

Lol ok. Imagine that we take two players, one from champions league with a 0.9 KD, and one from bronze with a 1.5 KD. Which one do you think is the best player?
Another one - who would you rather have on your team? A player who gets 20 kills, 22 deaths and 20 assists? Or a player who gets 3 kills, 1 death and 0 assists? The second player has the better KD…
Am I getting through yet? Let me know if you still don’t get it.

Yes I understand that but considering how every “Player one” you mentioned is probably already on a team, that is irrelevant. The point of adding that is that I don’t want to play with some jimmy-no-thumbs. And Halo 5 takes assist into consideration for your kda player one would still be positive.

Well good luck to ya. I obviously don’t expect to win, just trying to have some fun and want to be able to say I did it.
Is there a specific time this is going on?

In other words you know I’m right but aren’t grown up enough to admit it, so you call it irrelevant.
Anyhow, shouldn’t this be in the recruiting section?

I never said you were wrong. But the type of player you described that wants to compete is more than likely already on a team. And with what I thought at the time was only a max of 5 days until the tourney that isn’t enough time to get down good communication/teamwork/chemistry down so having good slaying skill helps. And I didn’t know where to post this, I’m not familiar with the forums. I never post here.
K/D isn’t everything, nut you can’t tell me you would recruit a player with a absolutely horrendous K/D to your team. In a FPS, being able to shoot people is kind of important, no matter which level of play. Especially in Slayer, if you have a poor K/D, it means you aren’t offering anything to your team in that mode, since you die far more often than you ever kill anyone. Even in objective modes, even if it is not as important, you still need to be able to kill people to defend and capture objectives.
The rest of the stuff is important, but you can learn those things in a couple days. Accuracy and shooting takes lots of practice. At this stage, you need someone who can already shoot perfectly, since there is no time to learn to shoot.
Recruiting a guy who can’t kill in a FPS is like recruiting a Striker in Football who can’t kick for -Yoink-. it doesn’t make sense.

The point is that KD is only one stat, and it’s not the most important. It’s a myth, you’d be far better off just getting a decent team that use their mics and help each other out. I could get a good KD by sitting back and letting my team fight the enemies, and just picking them off with headshots when their shields are weak. Am I a good team member? No way. But I’d have a good KD.
Personally I’d rather have a team that respond when I ask for help, and that work together well. Say to them “guys, the sword is at my X”, and an instant later you see one of them pick it up and they tell you. Or have a team member tell you that there’s a guy with camo and shotgun in a room that you’re about to run into, so they save your life.

I’d rather have a team of 4 using Mics that can also shoot stuff. The top teams are at the top because they can do everything. They can communicate, they can play the objective, they can slay if needed. its cool having a team of 4 calling out, but if they get into a 1v1 situation and you can’t help them, how are they supposed to win?

But having a high KD is not proof that they can shoot well. It’s only proof that they have a high KD, just one overrated stat. I could be in bronze league and have an amazing KD, does that mean I’m a great player? Lol!
If you have a high KD, then you’re playing with people who are below your skill level. You should rank up until your KD is 1:1, then you’re playing people of equal skill level.
Egos are too high here

K/D is not the only stat you look at when recruiting. But it is an important stat. EG isn’t going to recruit you if you have an absolutely terrible K/D, no matter how good your communications or other stats are.
Face it, K/D may not be everything, but you have got to be joking yourself if you think the Top teams don’t care about your K/D when looking to recruit you.

Now you’ve changed the goal posts, nobody is trying to get recruited and the discussion isn’t what top teams care about. It’s about the relevance of KD to player skill.
As for the importance of KD, well it would depend on the game type too. Nobody should give a damn about their Warzone KD, that’s just for messing around. Team Arena… some of the games are objective based. I’d rather have a team mate that captures the flag, than a team mate that plays slayer in CTF. Or in strongholds, I sometimes just hide in a base to contest it. If there’s 4 of the enemy there I’m going to get killed, but at least I held the base for a few more seconds. When I respawn, I won’t look for kills, I’ll try to capture another base. Points are the name of the game here, kills take a lower priority.
Team slayer is just about the only playlist where KD is important, and it’s only important to a point. I’d say that KDA is more important - I’d rather have someone who gets 20 kills, 22 deaths but 20 assists than someone who sits back and only gets 3 kills 1 death and 0 assists.
