LASO Campaign Progress Lost?

I’ve slowly been making progress on a LASO playthrough of Infinite. I completed my first playthrough on Legendary with no skulls, and now, in a second save file, I’ve started over on LASO.

I logged on today and resumed my campaign progress, which I’ve done several times now throughout this trial, but this time, I discovered that all skulls were suddenly off, and the game’s difficulty was set to Heroic. I did not do any of this myself, so I’m not sure how it happened.

My guess is that this might somehow be linked to the December update, because I launched the campaign after installing the update (12/6/22) when the settings were changed, but I’m not sure.

I found an older article that said that if the game’s settings are changed, progress towards the LASO achievement is no longer tracked. This was from 2021, though, so is that still accurate?

My goal is to get the Headmaster achievement, but now I’m worried that my progress has been lost since the game’s settings were altered. I was not in a mission when the settings were altered; I was free roaming. I don’t know if that makes a difference, though.

I have two questions:

  1. Has my LASO campaign progress been lost since the game’s settings have been altered, which was outside of my control?

  2. Is there a way to track LASO mission progress? Since I’ve already completed the game on Legendary, all the missions on the new playthrough, though they aren’t completed, are acknowledging that I’ve completed them on Legendary on a previous playthrough. There is no indicator beyond this, however, that I’ve played the first few on LASO.

I forgot to ask this in the original post, but I have a third question:

I noticed that, in this new playthrough, I have the ability to fast travel straight to main missions, even though the areas haven’t actually been explored yet. Am I allowed to fast travel straight to each mission, or will that disable any LASO progress?

1.) Unsure - it’s possible if you reset those things before launching the save file, your LASO progression will remain intact. I suggest trying that, and then don’t play any other save file until you finish LASO. Once you’re back in it, don’t even change settings on a DIFFERENT save file until you complete LASO.
2.) Does the achievement tracker show progress on the LASO achievement?
3.) I wouldn’t fast travel to areas you haven’t finished on LASO yet, just in case.

Nope. Due to the nature of Infinite, you can do the missions LASO at any time. I know this because one of the missions (Spire) didn’t register as being done on Legendary, so I replayed it after completing Pelican Down. But if you change the settings back to LASO before you load in, you have nothing to worry about. It happened to me, and I still unlocked the achievement the other day.

Nope. The only indicator is if you’ve completed the mission on Legendary. The achievement progress bar doesn’t change anymore, and hasn’t done since May. However, if you’re on a new save, then they shouldn’t show as having been completed on Legendary. Missions have the completed difficulties in white, and uncompleted difficulties in blue.

Yep. You don’t have to explore any of the open-world for LASO. All you have to do is complete the missions. However, I wouldn’t fast travel during a mission, in case that messes up tracking.

Okay, I’ll keep these things in mind. Thank you guys for your input

It could be a bug. I had my gzme set to legendary with a new file, and halfway through. I noticed the excavation site and everything after was heroic.
And when i went back and re did them on legendary,it wouldnt recognize the legendary run.

So if I load into the game on the wrong settings, then I lose progress? I only noticed a change when I could see my HUD, so I looked at the game’s settings, only to discover that there had been a change

I noticed a change after I loaded into the game. I could see my HUD all of a sudden, so I immediately backed out and checked out the settings, only to find it on Heroic, no skulls. Since I had loaded into the save file already, do you think progress is lost?

That’s possible.
But if you didn’t play anything and backed out, you might be able to re enable everything and be fine.

No.

LASO isn’t linear anymore, now that you can replay missions. Quit, and change the difficulty and skulls back. If it was during a mission, you should restart it, just to be safe.

I just realized I have the same problem. Or at least the same thing caused my problem. I noticed awhile back that my LASO campaign had shut the skulls off so I changed everything back. The xbox achievement tracker was still tracking both the legendary and the laso achievement as 52%. Well I just finished the run and it only let me have the legendary achievement…

So now I have a 52% completed LASO campaign with no clue as to which missions it is counting completed and which ones it is not.

Help?

I just came to waypoint to post about a very similar issue I encountered. I started replaying the campaign a week or two ago on a legendary run. At least twice, I’ve gotten pretty far into a play session before realizing the difficulty switched from Legendary to Heroic. Including earlier this week, when I played the final mission up until the brute chiefton… unknowingly all on Heroic. Now, for my own “competitive integrity” i need to redo the whole last mission (tears), AND I have no idea if there were other times I was accidentally on heroic. If I wasn’t almost done I would start over lol

May be worth your while trying this:

I’d strongly recommend using the scorpion gun easter egg in addition to a SPNKR (especially one that can track, if you can get it). With these two weapons on infinite ammo and infinite electric grenades, I’d actually say that LASO can be easier than regular Legendary in some areas and bosses. That might help your playthrough to go by way faster
