I understand the long barrel(for the BR, at least) and the stabilization jets, but what exactly does the laser targeter do to precision weapons? They don’t have bullet spread like the automatics do, so it wouldn’t effect the bullets at all, and Halo’s movement mechanics don’t effect the accuracy of guns like in CoD or Tom Clancy games, so it wouldn’t be mandatory to have if you plan on running and gunning, so what exactly is the purpose of this attachment?
Does it increase the aim assist or bullet magnetism? Does it make the reticle smaller? If you know how the laser targeter effects precision weapons, please explain it to me. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day!
The Laser Targeter increases bullet magnetism to a significant degree. Let’s say you’re using a standard Battle Rifle and you’re shooting at someone in the torso. All those shots will go exactly where your crosshair will be. But if you equip the Laser Targeter, your shots will now gravitate towards your target’s head, making it much easier to get Perfect Kills from a very far distance without having to put your crosshair on their head.

I need to start relying on the attachments, I always get lazy and just stick to sights and never come back once I hit level 4 loadouts.

That is a very complex attachment, I don’t understand why they couldn’t put this description in the actual game, so more people could understand it. ‘Increased accuracy’ isn’t a very good explanation.

I feel the exact same way. Its like you need to decipher the descriptions to know what they mean without actually knowing the differences. I think they went this wordy route to make it seem more fitting within the lore and world building, keeping consistent with this technologically advanced military sci-fi setting as so players feel immersed in this organization (the UNSC). I also feel like it serves a purpose. Developers don’t want to blatantly say things like:
“Increases magnetism by x%”
“Increased accuracy by x%”
“Decreases spread by x%”
etc.
I have seen people who don’t play Halo, specifically PC gamers, lose their minds when there here about various properties of aim assist. Things like acceleration, smoothing, traction, magnetism, etc. are all what makes playing a FPS on a gamepad possible and enjoyable, but I am on the fence when it comes to copies of weapons that alter these properties. It just seems cheap that some people have them and others don’t, it seems cheap that they are acquired randomly over time by grinding or spending money, it seems cheap that instead of balancing weapons or designing new ones there are just identical weapons with tweaked properties… but like I said, I am on the fence because a weapon like that on a map in arena is something akin to a power weapon, and using weapons like that enable player expression especially when it comes to a hectic mode like warzone and such weapons help against AI in fire fight.
It’s op to be honest in the right hands. Take someone (back before the tubing update) who was a beast with the br. Throw on the laser and he’s in god mode. It basically gives the gun more bullet magnetisims to a substantial degree.
