The only thing I really want in the next Halo is some modes for larger player counts. Something around 48 players, like a 24vs24, or 20vs20, or a 16vs16vs16, Large Team Battles, multi-team matches, or Invasion type game. That would be crazy imo.
Around 45 players is the perfect amount for a MP game as long as the maps are large enough.
> I think massive team sizes would work better in a new Firefight mode.
With 60 FPS (and online-wise, dedicated servers), I’m just imagining Firefight having eight player co-op, with double the AI count.
As for Multiplayer, I think BTB and Flood can benefit with a bigger player count, on bigger maps of course. Just imagine a map like Boneyard with a bigger player count in BTB, or in a big city in Flood. But other than that, I don’t see the point. Halo’s always had 16 players, and most of the time it’s worked.
Maybe with Bigger play spaces. In Halo 4 the maps didnt seem to really have a big play space feel. Especially when using vehicles like the scorpion or the wraith for that matter, it just felt crammed. -_-’
Im down for 12 vs 12 however I think the population of Halo has really dropped to even support a bunch of games requiring more players.
But they did mention “Dedicated Servers” which can support Fuller, lagless games with possibly a higher player limit.
Yes a bigger player count is needed. 8v8 feels so small and dated. The Halo games have always had a lot of vehicles to use in multiplayer and I hope in the next game we get all of the removed vehicles back and some new ones, bigger maps and more players on those maps.
Plus an 8 man team firefight mode would be awesome.
In a game like Halo the individual has always been having a large impact on the game outcome, even in BTB. I think that should be kept in mind before raising the player count.
Nevertheless, I would like to see larger scaled battles as well in multiplayer but I would not go over a 16v16.
Besides, I think it should definitely be separated from the current BTB playlists, primarily to ‘save’ them.
I think something like a 16v16 playlist would be perfect for Invasion-like game types and it could offer many new game types as well.
> I’d settle for 24-28 total. Anything higher doesn’t suit the feel IMO.
What!? Doesn’t suit the feel? Watch the covenant from halo 3. One of the best missions in the halo franchise IMO. There are open battles which have Halo written all over them.
Full scale battles could have:
A driver for a mammoth / scarab
a gunner (or two) for each
They could also be used for spawning.
Two hornets vs two vampires
two falcons vs two banshees
two braodswords vs two seraphs
pelicans and phantoms/spirits dropping troops off.
a couple of scorpions/wraiths
wolverines, cobras, locusts, aa wraiths
it uses up the player count in no time
perhaps imagine two games on sandtrap playing side by side for a 16v16.
…finally vehicles may stand a chance again in halo.
> This isn’t Battlefield, it really unnecessary especially on a technical level.
Its necessary because they shouldn’t limit the game to fans of only 4v4 small- medium maps. BF4 has entire buildings collapsing, There’s no reason Halo 5 couldn’t handle 16v16, especially with dedicated servers.
Invasion was the whole reason i kept playing Reach. I kept thinking how awesome it was and how even more awesome it was gonna be with all the new features H4 was gonna bring. I’ve never been so disappointed
Once i see multiplayer scarab battles, then my faith in Halo will be restored.
I would love a 12v12 nothing more, we dont wanna increase dramatically either, dramatic changes often fail in Halo, to keep a good individual player game changer 12v12 would fit best Imo 16v16 is a possibility if implemented right.

The problem with this is that it would suit vehicular combat, but that also changes the balance. Halo has always found a balance between infantry and vehicles. Vehicles are convenient but they arent as OP as vehicles are are in games like BF.

to be honest, balancing is not a problem at this stage, any fine tune should get sorted out in the beta (unconfirmed) or in worst case scenario post-release
also, look at highlight, if it was the exact same as halo 3 and it was literally sandtrap by sandtrap, would that be fine by you?
That sounds like a little too much for my personal tastes. I like the 4v4 set up. Im not opposed to have a lot of people in a BTB game playlist but I’m not sure how well would this would fit into Halo.
