Larger dead zone for H3 sticks needed

I posted a while ago about the weird aiming in H3. After playing around with it a ton, I think I know the answer.

There’s virtually no dead zone at all. Try walking in a straight line without adjusting look or sideways movement. Damn near impossible. The other games are all fine with respect to this.

If anyone at 343i reads this, please consider setting a software dead zone in H3 that mimics the 360 controller dead zone.

I agree that Halo 3 aiming doesn’t feel right. I’ve read technical explanations but the problem is in the MCC version, not in the original Halo 3. I hope it gets fixed.

It won’t and shouldn’t happen unless there’s a massive outcry for this game to be scaled down to 30fps and altering controller mechanics. I don’t see it happening.

A software dead zone can be set independently of reverting the update speed to 30 FPS. All it consists of is raising the analog input threshold floor. It’s done all the time in all kinds of industries. Unlike many things people want, this one actually is easy.

Amen.

I bought TMCC for Halo 3 multiplayer. Aiming feels like a different game. I can’t believe a dev at 343 didn’t say, “this feels wrong.” Add it to the “shocked it was released” list.

Halo 1, 2 and 4 have the original “artificial” dead zone. This was simply an oversight which could still be fixed.

Just add it to the pile.

I don’t feel any difference.

Feels fine to me. The 60fps helps a lot. I just want this game to turn on the Dedicated Servers.

Its is more than likely the 60 FPS feel.

I knew I wasn’t crazy

They claim they’ve fixed it in the latest patch notes for last night’s update. Can confirm it’s fixed/better now.

The aiming was weird in Halo 3, i think it feels better in the MCC, imo. Dead Zones are never a good thing.

I’ve always heard people complain about dead zones on controller sticks. Now that they are gone you want them back? It should let you get more precise aiming, shouldn’t it?
