Land Grab isn't fun

Yeah, sometimes the game is over so quickly. There’s little chance of making a comeback

Maybe in the 0.001% of matches where your teammates can actually aim and know what to do. This mode is too tactical for most people, despite how simple it is…

Land Grab is seriously a really fun map for a kill-oriented player like me. I get to do two things I enjoy: get kills and cap points easily.

I don’t mind Land Grab as a mode as much, but there are 2 things i don’t like about it:

  • most of the time you already know during the 2nd set wich team will win, because often 1 team will win sets 2-1 without much effort. So the rest of the match (you need 6 rounds) will only become a drag, you already know you lost but can’t get out.
  • the challenge to get 10,000 points is just way to much. For other gamemodes the most is 7,500 points and in those modes you can get way more points per match. This makes that 10k challenges just way to big.

I finsihed all ten of my event challenges last night in a couple of hours.

Just finished this week after a few hours, that was probably the first time I sweat in Halo that much in 5 years

I played 5 hours last night and partook in 5 LG matches where we came back from losing and won. In fact I think we only lost 5 games in the 20 I played.

Have Land Grab matches sometimes with no grenades, sometimes only melee. Grenades in this game irritate me, this game is mostly about grenade spamming and then finishing off with a weapon. Just played some Land Grab and all you hear are grenades going off in bunches of 6 to 8.

There are so many grenades, I am never without grenades, who in their right mind thinks an endless supply of grenades is a good thing on small maps with nothing but corridors., and they bounce too far. In this game, you’re at the mercy of the grenade god.

How many more times can I say Grenades? That’s the game.

Yeah. Because it’s so tightly focused, you really need teamwork. But since the vast majority of people don’t play with mics, it becomes a problem.

Ugh. Ten levels in one night in the event AND Battle Pass.

I can’t wait until I don’t have to touch this wretched mode again. Gimme’ week 3, baby! I do not want anymore past that!

I actually like Landgrab as it is a bit like KOTH but the teams are forced to divy-up your squad to try to go for at least two hills at once, meaning that one or two hills are usually heavily contested on most maps at one time while some team might sneak the third with one guy.

Most of the time I end these with victory.

Like every other game mode in social it suffers massively from the lack of FF. your whole team is in the zone fighting one opponent? Nevermind… through everything in youve got and get the kill.

But hey… 343 rather goes for the no brainer version of the game to sell some more cat ears instead of serving they real fanbase.

Clearly an unpopular opinion, but I do think it’s great fun overall. At least it’s fun when you have a competitive match.

If you have a bigger than usual bee in your bonnet about 'nades in this game, clearly you’re not going to have fun in this mode. However, that’s true for Strongholds and KotH, too, and zone control modes in Halo going back to the classic games. It’s just unavoidable in these modes; the best thing you can do is be the better 'nade tosser than the other guy.

When Land Grab decidedly isn’t fun is when you end up on either side of a lopsided match. Like so many other modes in this game, the Matchmaking regularly spits out criminally mismatched teams, which always results in less fun for everyone.

Cat ears haver, I am very much their real fanbase and they haven’t sold cat ears in months anyway.

But yes, friendly fire needs to be added in universally.

343 products tend to lack social features.

Land grab is not a fun mode for everyone. But this is why there’s supposed to be diverse types of game modes- different people enjoy playing differently.

I can usually pull out a win on landgrab. It’s not all luck; it’s all strategy. If you see the enemy is taking two zones, you know their forces are split, and your whole group can go rush them for an easy two zones. If you see they haven’t approached a certain zone yet, it’s very easy to set up an ambush. You know where they’re going to go- just punish them for it. Very fun way to rack up overkills.

If you don’t like a mode, that’s fine, but consider the possibility that you’re not exploiting the game mode to its fullest. It adds resource elements to the game beyond power weapons in a way that even amateur players can grasp- so enjoy using that against them.

As usual, the biggest gripe i have is that the challenges are tied to modes. people who don’t enjoy it are forced to play it, and the morale drops. Ideally, it won’t be that way next season.
