Land Grab isn't fun

I was hoping for something similar to Invasion from Reach

Yeah that is a LOT smarter. I think the Tenrai average was ~7 levels a week? Looks like I have 6 more this week.

So that’s an average of 10/wk. So I should have this event done by… What, I don’t know, July? Cool. Just before graduation.

Landgrab is fun. Matches dont last long. No camping. I like this mode as an event. Not as a permanent playlist.
Koth is way better.

It’s not my favorite, but I enjoy it well enough. It would be nice if the captures took just a little bit longer, there isn’t much chance to contest. The grenade spam is real, same with KoTH, but that’s Halo for you.

Some new thoughts.
Ok so catalyst deffinitly has a bit more fun than other maps.
Not surprised as its my fav koth map in the game.
The bridge is fun to defend and push.
Also i think most players werwnt or still arent aware of the vents and pit drop on mid on bazaar and thats crazy to me.
Its a short mode and challanges arent that bad considering.
So its better than tenrei and the LSS event imo.
So i guess thats progress?

It’s really just King of the Hill with a twist, do you not like that mode either?

I think it’s a perfectly fine addition to the game that meshes very well with the modes that came before, and I can’t see how or why this mode would be bad while classic King of the Hill modes would be good.

Agreed. Total Control and Strongholds dwarf this lobotomized game mode. Do we really need this many different spins on Multi-hill modes?

I actually kind of like it, just not with a disorganised team

Well, okay then. We can agree to disagree. I personally think this is way better than playing fiesta for Tenrai. I’ve always liked zone-based modes, so this whole event is really just going to be my cup of tea.

It’s definitely not the worst gamemode. If you like the cosmetics, I’d say it’s worth it as the challenges are fairly easy.

All of the twis5s make it substantially worse imo

Well they’re fundamentally different. KOTH is much longer form and doesn’t encourage you kick the bucket quite as much, since you can lose the hill at any time. Once a hill is secured in Land Grab, that’s it.

Yeah it is weird! I dropped out of one and got a double kill into a killing spree yesterday thanks to it, lol.

NOW THAT I AGREE WITH.

Agreeeeed.

I’d take Land Grab anyday over Fiesta. At least, it’s not all down to random luck where you get a Plasma Pistol and your opponents get Snipers, Swords, Rocket Launchers, etc.

Attrition and landgrab together will be an amazing game type and it needs to happen!

For all the Halo players too young to remember, this is literally just slightly tweaked Territories

Certainly old enough to remember at nearly 30, but that wasn’t all that either.

I liked the Fiesta challenges… Except when it was win Fiesta. I just think that Fiesta for Tenrai was just the worst possible decision to match together. It should have been the Grapple-Swords with Team and Non-Team variants on Japanese-style maps that meld UNSC and Japanese architecture together.

Land Grab makes more sense with Entrenched (anyone seen that episode of Blackadder with the literal piece of dirt representing the gains of the British army in WW1?) but I think these modes have a fundamental issue with lack of friendly fire. There is absolutely no reason not to grenade spam a contested hill/residential plot of land, even if a one-shot teammate is on it, because said teammate is unaffected by heavy ordinance.

These Fractures events have a long way to go from feeling like an office work party where they strung up some balloons and sprinkled confetti on the floor, but they desperately need to work on making these modes fun to play for everyone before pushing out more Fractures. I can’t say I’m an overly huge fan of playing a singular game mode for the next week for Challenges. I did that for LSS, and burnt out on Infinite fast

Territories did exist but so did Land grab. They both started out in H2 if I remember. Could have been H3 those games blurr into one on occasion.

I think Land Grab was a variant of Territories. Territories you defend one round and attack next. Land Grab all zones are neutral and lock after you cap them.

Land Grab use to be 5 flags 8v8. Once all flags are capped the round ends and there are 2 rounds. This game is 3 flags 4v4 and the flags move to a different spot when they are all capped. Hardly a new game mode for 343 to be proud of

That’s exactly how it was. Although they really are all relations of KotH in some way.
