Land Grab is being removed

First, Last Spartan Standing was removed and now Land Grab is being removed. 343 says they are being rotated out because they were the least popular playlists.

Is anyone surprised that 343’s newly invented playlists are the least popular?

Yet, still no Infection.

Not sure why it got it’s own playlist, honestly. If you had a playlist with only oddball or only ctf, etc. I would also expect low population there, too.

Least popular? No way. Land Grab has consistently low matchmaking times compared to other playlists. All you have to do is look at the estimated wait time of each playlist.

We seriously need a rotational WEEKLY playlist. The current model they run for rotational is not anywhere nearly as intuitive as MCC’s weekly rotational.

Staples should be:

  • Quickplay for a chance at every single mode in the game, will throw you up to queue for any match that’s finding players (this is more or less the “I’m feeling lucky” button)
  • Social 4v4
  • Social BTB (this will keep all the Yappening modes along with regular BTB as well as BTB Heavies)
  • Precision 4v4 (BR-AR starts)
  • Precision BTB (BR-AR starts)
  • Snipers
  • SWAT
  • Rotational weekly
  • Action Sack (Every other variant mode)

However the real need atm with so many modes is the match composer we have in MCC.

A zone control playlist would be so much better, but i would like them all in quick play more to be fair.

land grab is one of the worst playlist LSS was a pretty good solid game.

But what made lss garbage is the stupid amount of points you gained for killing and collecting orbs. the original amount was fine but the updated version gave wayyyyy too many points too fast

I enjoyed playing Land Grab, and I never had long wait times for a match. But now with BTB Fiesta I don’t know if I will play 4v4 unless I have to for a challenge.

The worst part of LSS is how it’s not balanced at all, coupled with a lives feature. Halo has been one of those unique games which often allowed you to keep playing no matter how far behind you are because it utilizes a score system instead of a lives system.

LSS jammed lives into the mix which basically tells the player that you have 6 lives and after that too bad no more playing for you. You should be able to see immediately why this turns players away from the mode because it actively forces you to not play after dying 6 times. The only option is to quit or watch other people play.

The lives system also make people play like cowards, so it’s not even fun to watch if people choose to spectate. And since the game ends once everyone is dead without even a round 2, people just roll their eyes and leave, finding a new match. Trust me when I say this but people aren’t very interested in going through loadscreens so often in a Halo game. That’s less time playing the game and more time waiting to play a game.

LSS also takes away the entire point of competing to become the last survivor, because collecting AI rewards an absurd amount of points. LSS slowly stopped being about a FFA fight to a coward’s fight to see who can cash out the most AI once people are dead. The weapons lineup is also particularly bad because it ensures that as you keep tiering up, the harder you snowball. So in the end who’s the real winner? The player who has most lives and a comparable loadout during the final showdown which is just not very Halo like in experience.

LSS should have just been a more relaxed party mode where everyone is thrown into a smaller arena with piles of weapons and pickups dropped onto them at intervals. The players just go into a mad scramble to pick up weapons and equipment to kill each other with the one with highest points at the end of 5 minutes winning the match.

This is a shame. I liked Land Grab. I liked Last Spartan Standing too :frowning:

Can we not just have an objective game playlist… land grab is an okay mode but not worthy of its own independent playlist but mixed in with other objective game modes is a cleaner solution….

We want infection! I can’t wait and totally hope we get a BTB infection mode. 20ish humans and 4ish zombies. I can see the pure chaos and anarchy now!

It is supposed to come back for the last 2 weeks of the “Entrenched” event and then at some point after that it will be added into the Quickplay playlist.

I wish they made castle wars again

Being the least popular does not mean they were not good. Imho, those modes were pretty good.

Do they actually expect their playerbase to cover ALL of the game modes? I mean, do they seriously expect thousands of players playing ALL of them at any given time? Is that their necessary requirement for keeping a game mode in the game? Of course Slayer and CTF will always be at the top five of player modes and the more game modes they will add the more the players will be distributed among those game modes. You can’t have it all.

That is one of the most fun game modes.

Yeah adding it to quick play would be a really good move

The popularity list from 343 means diddly squat.

No point of reference - especially when there are challenges to play certain playlist.

Last week I only played tactical slayer to get one challenge so I could then go back to the Yappening. Otherwise I would never play it.

How many others do that? How many total hours are being played? How many active users are on at once?

343 just tried to add context to why they are removing/adding playlist yet they have left me with more questions?

Spill the beans!?!

Edit - also I wonder how many players completed the Yappening then stopped playing like myself?

Oh you mean like all of the Yappening playlists? That are 4x more popular than ranked play?

The playlist SO popular they’re making a NEW category called BTB social for it?

The one that is entirely 343i’s brainchild?

THAT one?

Yeah, weird how something they made is so much more popular than everything else.

Fiesta was not created by 343. Not sure what you’re on about.

Also, where’s Infection?

LSS had its problems for sure, but limited lives in Halo matches have been around since CE. That aspect is nothing new to Halo.
