Ok, not being able to play splitscreen I can sort of get beyond… but no LAN play-!? HOW can Microsoft and 343 stoop so low as to yank THAT out as well?? This makes multiplayer unplayable if I want to have a couple friends over (on different screens, sadly), and thoroughly an unpleasant experience. Not everyone has a Fiber connection! None of us play online much, and playing LAN in the same house is very important. This makes me NOT want to play online at all, as we have to stay on each others own internet and chat remotely. Not as fun as being there in person.
I feel like it’s going to end up like Destiny’s multiplayer, full of elite online gamers, of which I will never stand a chance against. At least we can still make custom games, but still… sigh
I can’t be the only one upset over this…
I’m really, really trying to stay positive, but wow, that’s a kick in the teeth for sure.
I do not think that there is anything wrong with online multiplayer in fact some of my best halo moments were when I got together with a bunch of my friends online and played some cool maps that we built. However playing over LAN has a lot of benefits the main one being that like you said all being in the same room that is something that has been a part of Halo tradition since Halo 1 having your friends over and playing some Halo on the couch. Also the online will not last forever just like Halo 2 the online multiplayer will be gone and there will be no way to play halo 5 with your friends at all. Hopefully if its not too difficult to put in they can add LAN multiplayer for Halo 5.
Yeah, I’m sure the online multiplayer is fun - it seems it from what I have seen. I just don’t know anyone who has an XB1 yet. We’re all on PS4/PC, so getting XBL is not on my radar. Hiding everything behind a paywall is not fair, really.
Hopefully, it’s as you say, they will add LAN play in the future - at least for basic MP games.
