Hey guys I was just wondering if someone could give light to something I was wondering about recently. I host a lot of LAN system link matches with my friends and I have a big one planned this Easter and had a few queries regarding party size for certain gametypes. If someone could give me an answer I would be very grateful. Is it possible to:
-
Play 8 v 8 CTF?
-
Play neutral or 1 flag CTF?
-
Play 8 v 8 Dominion?
-
Play Flood with more than 10 players?
-
Play extraction with 8 v 8?
I will answer your questions in order.
-
yes. Both teams will have a flag to be captured.
-
no and no. With the current gametype settings, only 2 flag is available. There are custom maps the community has made that has allowed for 1 flag, but it’s essentially 2 flag still, with one flag being ‘inaccessible’ to the ‘defending’ team. The gametype is setup to have rounds, usually 4. This will allow for a similar feel, except you must ignore the heads-up indicator for the other flag.
-
yes. 8 player dominion plays very well on the larger maps.
-
yes. flood is more fun with more players usually. I would recommend adjusting the gametype settings to allow the ‘last man standing’ to be stronger, heal faster, run faster, etc.
-
yes. extraction will work well with 8v8.
On a side note, I host 1-2 LAN parties for Halo every year. You wouldn’t be situated near Cincinnati, Oh would you? Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you for answering
I don’t live there I’m afraid
However I would be interesting in knowing if there is a custom gametype you play with your friends that would be fun? I have a few favourites that we’ve been playing since Halo 2 that are really fun and different.
I have a lot actually. Let’s send each other friend requests and I can share with you what I have. I usually get several friends together on Friday and/or Saturday night. It’s a really good mix of competetive, and fun/goofy/different gametypes.
