Hi guys,
Just curious to see if anyone can help.
I’ve been running through the MCC campaign’s with a friend and we’ve found that if you’re not the host of a two player Co-op game over Xbox live you will encounter ridiculous amounts of lag. At the start of HALO CE it ran okay up until like the 6th mission or so. We’ve just got onto Halo 2 and it is almost playable but gets annoying and ruins the experience of the Campaign.
We cant figure out what the problem is or how to fix this issue, at first we thought it was to do with one of our connections however after thorough tests this is not the issue.
I’ve been reading through a few threads and I’ve seen some people have experienced the same issues we have experienced, is there a solution to this or is 343 just being lazy and primarily focusing on updates on the Multiplayer aspect of the game and not the campaign (more than likely the reason why most people have bought the MCC title)
Appreciate if anyone has any input on a quick fix or any news if there is an update due soon.
Cheers.
I believe it’s called input lag, and as far as i’ve seen, 343 has not even recognized this issue, either because they don’t know what to do about it, or they just don’t care at this point/not on their list of priorities, which would be quite sad either way. As far as I know, it pretty much happens for everyone and it really does make online coop completely unplayable. My friend and I gave up after just a couple missions. I’ve had numerous friends get the MCC and get really upset when they find out about this lag, so we try matchmaking, and even getting a match is entirely hit or miss as well.
I’m afraid ODST will have the same exact problem when it comes out as well.
This is a major problem that 343 appears to ignore. I’d love to hear if there’s information from them regarding this issue as well. Until then, you’re not alone, bro!
HI Eavega,
Thanks for replying. This is so frustrating, I cant understand why 343 would release such a promising title and not fix or be aware of any of these issues. In my eyes this is really disappointing, the last time I played or even purchased a Halo title was on the original first gen Xbox, buying MCC seemed like a perfect chance to catch up and as they had introduced the co-op mode over Xbox Live me and my friend snapped up the opportunity to buy the game.
I’m really hoping they will patch the game for the for see-able future…
…To be honest buying all 4 games for only £20.00 seemed only to good to be true.
It’s all off host server. Me and my friend live in the same state so when I host. She has zero to minimal lag. But when I play with someone in Europe or Australia. Lag is insane. So the best way to do CO-OP Is to lan party, or live close to each other and have the player with the better Internet host the CO-OP
But this has always been a Issue sense Halo 2. Bungie/343i are not going to invest money into dedicated servers for people to play co-op. Wasn’t to bad 2-ODST. But i still had plenty of cases where the lag made CO-OP unplayable. Halo: Reach for Co-op play I have to honestly say is the worst in my experience in unplayable lag for co-op
Right okay, I get you, it does still seem quite strange how you can still experience such lag issues when me and friend have good connections and we only live atleast 10 miles away from each other… I still believe there is some under-lying issues with the game over co-op. However there is always the split screen alternative…
