Recently in Reach I have been experiencing some lag issues in matchmaking. I turn “Good Connection” on in “Psych Profile” but it still seems to lag. When I press the “Back” button in game, beside my gamertag it says I have a connection ranging from 60% to 100%, but a lot of the other players can be from 40% to 10%.
IMO Lag can be very frustrating in the middle of an intense battle, making you teleport in different directions and basically end up losing the battle because of lag. Sometimes it works fine, but it seems most of the time it just lags at really inconvenient moments.
When I get Halo 4 early on the 6th, I DO NOT want to experience this right when I get the game. It may ruin my experience and just make me not want to play the game, which is the last thing I want to do.
Will lag be an issue in Halo 4? I am only experiencing this because of Halo: Reach and/or other players connection? Is there something I could do to improve my own connection?
Please let me know! Thank you!
I’m guessing that lag will be a problem in Halo 4 with a bad connection, but will it lag because of other players bad connection? Even if I have a good one?
Oh yeah no one told you the search priorities only work when other players are using them too. In Reach, it matches you up with those with the same restrictions, they don’t really need to be skilled, be of the same language, or have a good connection.
Surely you noticed the increased search times when you turn them on.
If it’s an issue with your connection, even the best of netcodes will falter in the face lag and ruin your experience. You’ll have to sort that out somehow.
If there is bad connections or host, even a fiber optic connection will get some delay. So the best of connections can be brought down due to latency issues.
Reach has a weird connection bar. I have always had a bad internet connection ( I live in the middle of the woods in Canada) and sometimes it says I have really good connection when I know it is me with the bad connection. reach is weird like that. It could be laggy because you are using too much bandwidth. have you tried turning off all computers/turning off devices that use Wifi while playing to see if that helps lag for reach?
As for lag in Halo 4 who knows. I guess we are all going to find out very soon.
It’s prettymuch tradition for complete sever crashes on launch days. Better plan on playing campaine on the 6th at 1 AM
There is always some kind of online issues immediately after a big title is release. I think online problems with Halo 4 are to be expected.
Try to go back to Halo 3, LAGfest…every Halo game improved its matchmaking, i guess Halo 4 lag issues won’t be as bad as Reach.
Do we know if 343i has done anything to improve upon the network issues Halo has had in the past? Maybe it’s just the way the game plays, but it seems to be just a smidge off compared to other FPS games I play.
I find as an oceanic player we are getting really bad latency issues right now. as with oceanic players in the past you could pretty much be on par with american players, though i find halo 4 you will need to get the first few burst rounds into the player to have any chance to win 1v1.
So i do think its either server congestion or issues with 343 server side.
I’ve noticed that the lag seems to be a bit worse than previous titles. Maybe H4 is just a bit more bandwith-heavy?
Then again, our internet isn’t the best (not in a cable area) and it does have its bad days. I’ll have to play some more tonight and see what the craic is.
