internet connection you 343 apologists and halo fan–Yoinks!-, I sure hope the xbox one game dvr can capture lag and the bs that goes on online so it will make it so easy to show how bad the gameplay online is, maybe that is why they are going to dedicated servers DUH… its been a long time since i played a game bad enough that it makes me want to kick the dog, good job guys way to go

I rarely ever get actual server lag, it’s usually just bad optimization for split screen on 343’s part. Ever try splitscreen on Complex or Shatter? You run like 15 frames per second at best, It’s utterly unplayable. :expressionless:

Go ahead.

Settler is still laggy as hell, oh and no split screen on my part. I have played like 3/10 games that weren’t frame rate snails. Thanks for playing.

Why does everybody always assume it’s an “internet provider” problem and not a “the host is 20 hours away” problem?

I’m really starting to think they know what the real problem actually is, but hope it doesn’t get fixed as they regularly pull host and have a clear advantage.

The only thing that seems to moving like a snail is your upload speed. I don’t experience any form of lag on settler at all regardless of whether or not I’m host.

You could always connecting your xbox to the router via ethernet cable. Might give an effect similar to this.

Always a pleasure playing

The games are laggy as all hell for me as well, I just tried to play four games and quit three of them

I just can’t tolerate it, I get waaaay too frustrated with the lag and with halo 4 in general, it makes me want to put my controller through my tv

Internet connections fine for me and I run on wireless.

When I used the ethernet cable I noticed an increase in connection like they ran slightly smoother for all my games not just Halo.

But that could be because I got to be the host often.

Heck If I can play wirelessly and run ok surely it must be something with your connection if you’ve got it running through the ethernet.

Its mostly based on population, as I type this there are 2,330 people online playing the game

This will result in foreign hosts and laggy as all hell games

Download and upload speeds are mostly irrelevant past about 1mbps. I play on this and everything runs smoothly with the exception of the odd game of course. I recommend you check out this website http://www.pingtest.net/, it might be able to help with your lag problem.

Though, most of the time, it’s hosts fault for having roommates/family members watch YouTube/Netflix on an internet connection that does not have Quality of Service setup for gaming.

In my experience the saved game video shows lag issues when I play it in theater.

I see lag issues fairly regularly, but normally in less than half the games I play in a day even on bad lag days.

The only problem I’ve had on Settler is the rare game plagued with black screens.

I just suffered a horrible nite of laggy games freaking christ thats what I get for trying to play this awful game I suppose

Just speculating here, but you posted this at just after 8AM ET. If you just got done playing you might have been playing with people from a variety of different countries, and that’s more likely to cause lag problems

The thing I don’t understand is why we can get stuck in a black screen for minutes at a time in the worst cases. That just doesn’t make sense to me.

The only thing that is worth noting from speedtest is your ping. My Up/Down is poor, but I never lag in any game as hard as I do in Halo 4. Back when I used to play CoD MW2 in 2009/10 I never experienced lag this bad unless the game had an extremely poor host.

I have a hard time enjoying Halo 4 anyway, the constant connection issues isn’t doing the game any favours.

Oh yeah constantly with Mexico and Canada

your connection speed doesnt matter. run the Testmy.net on the X360s internet explorer. they cap it at like 3 megs up and down.

what is actually happen is they are putting Skill matching BEFORE connection matching. and recently made the Skill matching connection tighter with the “tuning”

so you get matched with lest then perfect connections that are around your skill before you get matched against good hosts/

It should be the other way round to create a better experience.
