Lack of Varients in Halo

Ok don’t get me wrong I am a massive Halo fan. Recently though while I was thinking about the new weapons in Halo 5 I realised that really each races weapons are just a slight variant of each other. If you don’t understand what I mean yet then ill give some examples:
The covenant carbine is just a slight variation of the battle and DMR as well as the lightrifle, they all work the same way but have slight differences like textures and yes they do have different features like the lightrifle only takes 4 shots if scoped in. This being the case they still have the same use. Also I understand that these examples are from halo 4 but the promethean weapons help prove my point

Rocket Launcher > Fuel Rod > Incineration Cannon
Assault Rifle > Storm Rifle > Suppressor
Shotgun > Energy Sword > Scattershot
Swagnum > Plasma Pistol > Boltshot (this group has a fair amount of variance {boltshot charge, plasma pistol charge, swagnum swag})

You all get my point now.
I understand that each race has to have weapons that are mid to long range but I wish 343 could add something unique to each .e.g. Boltshot charge up, 4 hit kill when zoomed with the lightrifle. Now they cant add anything to powerful otherwise that could compromise the game, one weapon would destroy the other at its preferable range (sought of the problem Halo 4 had with the classes). Just small tweaks that make them unique the lighrifle when scoped does more dame in Halo 5 but it isn’t as powerful as Halo 4 because there is de-scope. I hope all this makes sense and I haven’t molested what I was trying to say.

PS: I think the gravity hammer was a good example of a weapon that nothing was like.

They need the mainline weapons for each race, especially with the campaign. But Halo always has that extra assortment of weapons to make up for it. You have your needler, Gravity hammer, Energy sword, railgun, very different grenade launchers, the pistols are all very different, Covenant overheat vs UNSC mags, grenades, etc. I’ve never seen a game with such an interesting selection of weapons, but you still need your mainline weapons.

I like it just the way it is.

That’s a perfectly good idea. Some of the weapons you’ve listed already have those tweaks, though.

The Fuel Rod Gun fires faster than the Rocket Launcher, but its shots will bounce wildly if you don’t get a direct hit. You can do more damage in less time, but only if you have a good angle on your target. The bouncing is also pretty awesome in Custom Games.

The Scattershot is what you’d get if you combined the Shotgun with a slot machine: it fires a row of five blasts which bounce slightly and do very little damage on their own. If you get lucky, though, all five will actually hit and kill your target.
