Lack of starting armour, achievement armour

Bit depressing that I have to grind my way to my ODST helmet and armour at level 60 odd in the battlepass when it’s been available on halo 3 very early doors / halo reach Xbox 360 early on too.

And just highlights a lack of any starting armour and helmets at the moment , they don’t even have the iconic mjolnir armor MK V / VI available now ! Come on 343! The most iconic thing in video games and I have to grind for MK VI too in the battle pass, got to be on it sharpish! (if this is your swan song for chief especially)

Add some armour unlocks to achievements too like the good old days. Getting those 13 skulls with my buddy’s and getting the hayabusa helmets is something that will stay with me forever :joy: , the sheer joy that was had and “holy -Yoink!- that is so awesome looking”

When halo 3 launched I’d argue you had the opportunity to get 7 different helmets in 1 day of playing (one being the ODST and recon if you were a lucky man and saw a Bungie employee!) also when Reach launched you had 4 starter helmets straight out of the gate ( just had to look it up as my memory was foggy)

Throw in the classics and new ones like now or on launch ( at the minimum 5 sets ) , everyone looks the same at the moment.

Keep in mind this is a beta a retail launch isn’t until December 8th. I do believe there are supposed to be campaign related unlocks, I just hope their worth a damn.

Get where you’re coming from but I think a few starter cosmetics should be there already.

Last halo game for a while , come out all guns blazing.

Especially now with people flocking from COD and Battlefield :joy: , show em how halo does it kind of thing, if that’s the case with campaign unlocks then cool…cool let’s hope it’s worth indeed !

I think the biggest thing working against this game is that it’s the franchise first foray into am FTP model, and instead of using other games out there as a blueprint of what to or not to do they seem to be winging it somewhat.

It would have been nice if there were at least some starter options for all players, but then that’d take away focus from the incentive to get right into grinding the pass, and the more time people have to think about it the less likely they are to buy in.

Yeah I get they have to get their money back but at least throw something at the start and then add additional attachments/variations/visors e.g. into the pass to get people to buy it.

And if people want it right now then sell it to them (but not at £20 for a set that’s taking the piss🥴)

By removing all the customisations early game you lose a bit of identity, colours weren’t enough to make your Spartan stand out and feel like it’s your Spartan.

Your first piece of customisation is not till like level 6 then 21. You would have to grind 20-30 games before you were able to unlock a chest piece.

While I do love the gameplay, possibly my favorite since 3, I gotta agree that customization options in general are pretty rough. And hey, I get it. It’s f2p now but you can’t expect players to just forget how many options we used to get with the games. Of course players are going to compare the current offering to what we had at launch with previous titles.

Yes they need to make money, but that doesn’t mean you can’t criticize the monetization scheme they decided to go with. Personally, I think they went just a tad bit too restrictive with their customization in the hunt for profit from the store.

What bums me out a bit is playing against the bots and they have all these cool looking armor and colors, but we have access to none of it. unfortunately.

I wonder if the campaign armour achievements will fix this. 343 will get there money’s worth that way and everyone wins. Even if it just locked to one armour core at least it will give some variety.

While I bought the pass, I am beyond upset that M7 has no TRUE customization within the first 20 levels. Yeah I do hope campaign and other things stop this but rn it’s just so unfair that the good starting armor is paywalled

Given the amount of negative backlash over the coating system months ago, I find it odd that they only gave us so little options at launch.

I figured that all 8 main colours would have 3 coatings each, that had a light, dark and mixed design.
For instance;
Red with white accents,
Red with steel accents,
Red with X accents (X being whatever the most popular colour to combine based on MCC data)
That would’ve given us 24 coatings to play with at launch.

I get the whole F2P thing, but even for us that paid for the battle pass, we’re getting coating only occasionally, and even then it might be for the core you’re not rocking at the time.
