Lack of social multiplayer in H5?

In my opinion, Halo 5 multiplayer lacks the social part of Halo multiplayer. What I mean by that is that there is not enough focus on social playlists and its own ranking system.
For example, Halo 3 was great when it came to this. It had both the competitive part with a competitive ranking system for the ranked playlists and the social playlists with its own playlist. This is great for the “longevity” of the game. The competitive players will keep playing ´cause of that. And the “not-so-serious” players were satisfied with their social multiplayer. The good and the serious players played together on their appropriate level. And the noobs, (like me) were just fine playing with the social stuff just for fun on my level.

Halo Reach, for example, failed on this point. It had a terrible ranking system based on XP for all playlists. Which lead to the competitive side of the Halo fanbase completely ignoring playing the game. And the game pretty much died quickly, compared to Halo 3 which had players playing it for years on a daily basis.

Halo 5 though, in my opinion, has a really weak social side of the multiplayer. It has basically only one permanent social playlist (Big Team Battle), and some other temporary playlists coming in here and there (e.g Social Fiesta). (I wished the social playlists could have its own XP-based ranking system as well)
There should be a huge offer of social matchmaking in Halo…permanently !Everyone ain´t competitive!

Don´t get me wrong. The competitive side is more important for the longevity of the game. And Halo 5 really succeeds on this point, which is really great!
The ranking system keeps many players playing and it strives players to keep playing, and 343 are holding great tournaments.

But why are we not getting a Halo game that is appealing for the ENTIRE fanbase??? Halo 3 was a complete experience, and that is why it was so damn popular and great!

I think that many players ain´t fond of Halo 5 cause of this. (Me included…)

So to sum this up:

Halo 3: Competitive: Yes - Social: Yes.
Halo Reach: Competitive: Hell no - Social: Yes.
Halo 5: Competitive: Yes - Social: no

Do you guys agree on my point? That Halo 5 lacks this? Do you agree that it is very important to have both the competitive and social side in multiplayer?
Feel free to discuss and have a nice day.

I find one of your points on Reach pretty hilarious… you think the game died quickly? Buddy, it’s still alive. I still see it with 13,000+ players on average, and that’s just matchmaking. Your other points are all true, though, and I agree with them.

Plenty of people have begged for Social Slayer, Team Snipers, Team Doubles, Team Objective, etc. and we continue to get ignored.

There is nothing fun about H5 anymore for me, every game is a sweaty pounding. The playlist management has been absolutely pathetic. So much potential, so little done.

People will remember this stuff when H6 releases, I know a lot of Halo fans who are done with the series.

Well, Bungie said back in 2009 that there were 2 million players playing H3 daily. (From what I can remember…)
From my experience, Reach was not as popular as a Halo game should have been over a longer period of time.

You cannot make a ranked competitive mode “less competitive” when you slap the word “Social” on it. Ever notice how people are still complaining about “sweaty tryhards”? It’s because people are always going to play to win when it comes to a normal game mode like CTF or Strongholds. By suggesting that social should only be played in the form of relaxation and lower skill based matchmaking, you are baiting the higher skilled players to slaughter weaker opponents, and that’s exactly what’s happening.

Keep the default competitive modes like Slayer, CTF, Strongholds, and more in the Arena. That way, skill levels are as equal as possible to avoid social slaughters. Now as for what social modes work, it’s not about how people play. Rather, it’s about the modes you have available. Social should only consist of fun modes like Action Sack, Grifball, Infected, Mongoose Sumo, Flapjacks, and more. That way, the competitiveness is overlapped by pure fun.
