Lack of Playlists - Can we please get an update

Can we get any update on whether or not playlists will be expanded (permanently - not an event rotation)? 343 could settle down a lot of people with a simple tweet or update regarding specific playlists for Slayer, SWAT, rumble pit, etc. This is far more pressing that the battlepass to people who enjoy ranked (and it’s an issue for social players too, no need to force gametypes on anyone). The radio silence is worrying as this is an issue that will drop the player count FAST.

100% Agree. Lots of my friends have already quit because they’re tired of playing stronghold and CTF. I personally don’t mind them too much but it’s still annoying getting a Slayer match every 15 games. Just give us an update saying “Hey we’re aware and we’re currently working on getting those implemented, please be patient”. Simple statement would make all the difference to the fan base instead of the worry about the Battlepass and all the Microtransactions issues.

We dont need an update, we already know whats going to happen, fan favorite modes are being held hostage as time limited events with store updates. Sad but true.

I hear what you’re saying, but genuinely curious, what’s the logic behind that for 343? People have been saying it’s because they’re worried about all the playlists not having enough players, but given that it’s free to play (and I mean it’s Halo, one of the most popular games in the world), why would that be a concern? I literally can’t see the upside no matter what lens I look at it through. Drip feeding playlists would only seem to annoy people, not bring them back for more.

It’s in “Beta” I’m sure they’ll release more on the 8th.

“While you may experience some bumps and bugs during this beta period, it does mark the official start of Halo Infinite Season 1, with all day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass.”

I don’t know if it’s guaranteed for sure they’ll add more playlists. They’ve said these are the day one maps and modes. Maybe modes doesn’t mean playlists? Idk. I’m hoping for more, but not expecting it.

I’m still hoping that they’re reserving small amounts of content for launch, and hoping even harder that one of those is a dedicated slayer playlist.

It would be nice to chose the games you want to play. It almost seems like you can but I can’t figure it out

Unfortunately thats the whole idea, they want to annoy you so you buy challenge swaps when you dont get the mode you want to complete a challenge. Additionally they want to make modes time gated to drive up their MAU (monthly active users) so they look good to investors and so they can have a limited time store for whales to spend money on.

They dont care or even think about the average player, as soon as this game went F2P it was all about the whales and investors.

Ugh, it’s so… sad. Thanks for the explanation. It sucks as a lifelong Halo fan that modes that are really basic and core to the franchise get tossed aside for considerations like that. Everyone is entitled to make money, but there’s a line between that and being anti-consumer.

No problem friend and I completely agree with you… no one here wants to spend their time whining on a forum, it is just the only way to get things to change these days.

Hopefully the campaign is good and MCC is still a fantastic experience. Have a good day.

I feel like they would sell more swaps by separating the playlists though.

For example, let’s say you don’t like objective gametypes and just want to play Team Slayer (this is the majority of players, it seems). So right now, if you get an objective-based challenge, you have two options. On one hand, you could just queue up until you get the gametype you need to complete the challenge, or on the other hand, you can swap it out until you get a more slayer-oriented challenge.

If they were to separate Slayer and Objective playlists, the player that doesn’t want to play objective games is MUCH more likely to swap it out and queue up for a game they actually enjoy (slayer), rather than queue up for objective games they don’t like, just because the challenge dictates them to do so.

Maybe! But all big publishers hire psychologists these days to find out how to manipulate players to spend more money and become addicted and this is the system they decided would best accomplish that.

And as I’ve mentioned… they dont give a crap if me or you buy 1 challenge swap. They care about Mr.Whale who buys 200 at a time and completes the battle pass day 1 or challenge swaps his way through an entire limited time battle pass in the first 5 mins.

You’re right. It definitely seems it’s all about the whales these days.

Yeah. I would be more likely to purchase a swap if my challenges were for a mode I don’t like to play.
