This is an example of why the game needs Player Collision… the other team ended up coming back and winning by hiding on this platform crouched in the corner using Shroud in “Escalation Slayer”… This absolutely works my soul and no amount of content can patch this void and hide the childish antics that are caused by No Team Player Collision. I grow impatient. This has been my pet peeve since launch. I’ve sent Halo Support plenty of videos of situations like this because of the lack of Player Collision. I’m almost ready to give up, I can’t take this game seriously as long as stuff like this is happening. It’s fake…
Someone please explain to me why Player Collision shouldn’t exist and remain the way it is, please feel free to comment below. Please change my mind. Help me to understand why physics shouldn’t exist when it comes to 1ton Spartans that are almost 7ft tall…
I agree completely about collision, but I don’t see how your video is evidence of much. Even with collision on they could just as easily group together under the screen and wait for you to trickle in.
For starters please don’t bring anything of the such as real life aspects to 343 Halo. Nothing in Halo is based towards real life in any type of way.
To answer your question there’s multiple reasons why Player Collision has been a problem in video games. But one the biggest problems is people that try to get on others nerves. Which can be very toxic and annoying.
For example in Halo
My shield is down and I’m about to die and your teammates gets in your way from escaping and you die because of it.
Your trying to score the objective and you teammate is blocking you from doing so.
Your trying to get through the door, window, etc and guess what, your teammate is blocking you.
The list goes on and on.
Now don’t get the wrong idea I understand how you feel but it can be annoying of the dumb choices that’s been made for any video game but try to understand why that choice was made and it my being you some comfort.
I feel like player collision is one of those things is it is nice to have on because it makes the game fun and it can prevent annoying strats but on the other hand 1 annoying teammate or one badly designed map section can make it the most annoying thing ever.
You can lump any sort of bad behaviour in this where player deliberately make decisions that aggravate others.
This isn’t something which should affect gameplay decisions when designing a game, because it’s a minor part of players doing it and any changes made to “combat” it through gameplay changes will affect every single player.
2:
In the end it’s a choice how they want the game to play, for better or worse.
A lack of collision leads to a more shallow game, and that’s something they’ve decided on
Communication and awareness.
Annoying? Yes.
Player skill? Absolutely.
Incase it’s a toxic player, those happen sometimes.
Toxic player? Those happen sometimes.
Otherwise it’s the same as the one before.
Communication, awareness and skill.
Again, toxic player? See above.
Else? See above.
You can list how much you want, it’s always going to be either of the two, and it’s doubtful any of the listed things amounted up to being a regularly occuring issue in terms of toxicity, other than that it was a player issue.
If there was Team Player Collision, They wouldve been in different positions instead of being all stacked on top of each other. I couldve actually killed 1 of them but instead I got a barrage from a 6 armed Spartan…
It has nothing to do with real life but more to do with strategies, tactics, and positions. Without Team Player Collision, the game is childish. As you can see in the video, you have 3 players that are stacked on top of each other, INSIDE OF A SHROUD on top of that so they are already abusing Shroud. Its an overall BAD look imo and again, I can not take anyone serious who doesnt believe in Player Collision… Everyone Team Based game has it… Halo has no excuse…
This is objectively false. Halo physics has always been based on “real life” physics.
I realize that we are in a video game and we can take some liberties to bend some rules, but to straight up ignore basic laws of physics is extremely jarring, especially when implemented inconsistently within the game itself and across historical mechanics of the franchise.
The real pickle we now find ourselves in is that it used to be “your teammates fault” for being in the way (or at least recognized as an unfortunate or unlucky position/lack of communication) where now, if it is ever reverted back, it will be the game’s fault. Or even now, with no collision, all the negative parts are because of the game design, not the players. 343 had put themselves in a lose-lose position.
Seriously though, we had this stuff two console generations ago with the 360 and reach.
What. Did someone tell 343 that they can’t walk AND breathe at the same time?
Why does every game they make come with a freaking limitation clause.
Can’t have coop in halo 5 because of system limitations. (Gets more powerful system), can’t have coop AND collision in infinite.
No, of course not. It is a bit ridiculous to see someone jump into the air (esp with the sword) and fly another 15ft right at the peak of their jump for no apparent reason. The only thing this has going for it is that it has been this way in all previous games and players have come to accept and expect it.
I’m assuming you are talking about fall damage. Yes, fall damage is a real thing. Its implementation has had a very inconsistent implementation in the past, so it’s no surprise that it is a bit divisive of a topic.
