So, I don’t understand why maps these days are poorly designed. Its like ever since Halo 3, there have no truly original and inspiring maps. I would like for someone to explain this perplexing dilemma to me. I know there are some hidden gems, but for the most part, in games from this generation, in particular, H4 and Reach, the maps don’t look very playable. But, I guess I won’t know about H4’s maps until I play them.
Wat.
Halo 4’s maps look pretty amazing.
So far most of the maps I like the looks of… although how they play will be a different story.
Haven looks amazing IMO.
i would like people to explain everything cuss halo 4 seems awful to everyone on here.
WHY!! 343i!!! WHY!!!

They LOOK pretty amazing. I’m just concerned that they won’t play very well. After Reach, I have to cautious lol.

I actually agree. I forgot about Haven.
Coming off of Reach, a lot of these maps look like gold. But we must play them first to be sure.
Some of the maps in Halo 4 look good. Haven and all the BTB maps for example.
There are some real stinkers too like adrift (lol condemned 2.0).
Lol that’s my whole argument, although I think I could made that clearer lol.

Da faq? You must have mistaken Reach for Halo 4. The maps are not built as MP maps first and doubling as Campaign spaces but are original in design and layout. However, i don’t blame you for being cautious after Reach, i am too lol. I wouldn’t go far as saying they are uninspired though. To come to that conclusion, one must play on the maps extensively before arriving to that conclusion (or not).
However, this is from a birds eye view off from the distance. We can praise or bash on them all till the 6th. While certainly an improvement over Reach, i am more interested in seeing how they stack up against the classics and by themselves after testing them out.

Reachs maps were designed for multiplayer first and foremost. Their aesthetic design was to make them compatible with campaign.
I’m actually very pleased with how the maps look so far. I mean yea how they play is a whole new discussion but until then all I have to go by is what I’ve seen…and I like what I’ve seen.
Almost Every match I played was on Haven, after my 2nd go I understood the layout fairly well and it was pretty good.
The other map I played, I dunno the name but it had a giant beam of light in the middle and was of an orangy tint, that map was also fairly good but long range weapons were punished a bit more there (DMR BR etc) due to high amounts of cover, and short range weapons were better choices (Automatics, and shotgun types).
The other map, the orangy one did have a slight tendency to give you dry spots though, because of how the teams spawn fairly regularly on a specific side. So if my team mates were ahead of me, the enemy would likely die before getting too close So I would have to sprint out further to find people to kill. This was in a 4v4 every match.
They’re still better than Reach’s defaults…
Haven was great to me. It was like a bright and shiny spiritual successor to lockout or guardian.
Exile looks like it’ll be great for BTB and CTF.
Abandon + Flood = WIN
Complex looks great for Team slayer
Long Bow looks great with Dominion
Solace and Meltdown will probably play the best for CTF for their mainly symmetrical mapping.
And despite my hatred for recently overused UNSC spaceship maps, Adrift actually looks amazing.
And Ragnarok is based on my favorite H3 map.

Um, so far only one map in Halo 4 is a remake, and none of them are maps from the campaign, yes they’re maps that are located in much the same place as some of the campaign, because most of the maps are located on the same planet Halo 4 takes place on.
Truly original maps. Inspiring, yes, most of them are very inspiring, graphically they are very inspiring.
Halo 4 maps look playable and very well made. I disagree with you on that, but can on Reach maps.
None of the maps really seem creative or innovative out of the bunch. We need maps like Boarding Action that really come up with a new way to shoot your friends in the face.

Basically this.
