Let me start off by saying I love BTB, and have ever since Halo 2, it’s probably my favorite playlist. That being said, every time I go into big team battle the only game type that ever get selected is BTB Heavies, it doesn’t matter the map whenever heavies pops up (always slot 2) it’s immediately voted for. I just want some diversity, maybe a way to play some CTF or Assault, the best BTB game types if you ask me. Don’t get me wrong I love Heavies as well but it gets old after a while. Every time I jump into BTB there are like 4K-5K players on that playlist so I was thinking to remedy this we could have dedicated BTB Slayer and Objective playlists? Just a thought, what do you guys think?
I’d prefer it like this if it isn’t already:
Slot 1 - BTB Objective, CTF, Assault or Territories.
Slot 2 - BTB Heavies
Slot 3 - BTB Slayer
That way we at least have more of a variety on each voting round.
I think they should just drop the utterly pointless ‘BTB heavies’ gametype, and just play normal BTB games on the current Heavies maps. I for one would like to play ctf on Rasu.

I’d personally like to play Capture the Flag on Asphalt, it would play well if you ask me, heck BTB Slayer alone would.
Honestly, objective game types in Reach don’t feel right, I don’t know what it is but they’re all missing something, something I can’t explain but they’re certainly not as much fun as Halo 2/3.
And yes I agree CTF on asphalt would be amazing, it would be such a cluster YOINK!.
I prefer heavies actually. On regular BTB I find its too empty. For example Spire, half of the relatively unused. I bring this up because if one team is dominatiating the field, you begin to spawn there. Takes a while to get back in the fight plus a dmr isn’t great for taking down vehicles (unless a damn good shot). At least with heavies I can usually grab a weapon.
I agree with you on the objective matchtypes. I would like to play them more often but unfortunately with a majority of players caring more about k/d than winning, those games normally end pretty unenjoyable.
I never play Reach BTB just because it isn’t nearly as good as H2/H3 BTB was.
For me it will always be H2 BTB>H3 BTB>Reach BTB.

I agree 100% Halo 2 BTB was perfect in every way, I don’t know how to explain it, it was just amazing.

I disagree, I find objectives in Reach to be more heavily team focused than solo-flag juggling in halo 3.
And yes, it’s sad that no one ever votes for objectives anymore in BTB.
I’d really just prefer less Hemorrhage…a lot less.
Heavies is one of the coolest additions to Reach I have played, it is the only reason I go to BTB.
The irony that in the playlist, heavies is incredibly popular and on forums it is widely hated only reinforces my long held belief.
Forums are one of the worst ways to gauge what will be popular and well received in game. In fact you should almost do exactly the opposite of what the majority think on forums in order to please the most people.

It’s because the Spartans are slow. It takes far longer to get in position, recharge shields, perform the objective, or get away with the objective. This is the one decision made by Bungie for this game that I have just never understood. Everything about the game was designed to be slower, the pacing of the DMR, the movement, the shield recharge, all designed with slower games in mind. The reason I think people like Heavies is that movement speed is increased by 10% (or was it 20%? Pretty sure it’s 10%). Kill times are also decreased (cause most of the weapons are OHK), which makes for faster, more frenetic games than standard BTB fare. Plus as one guy complained that everyone picks BTB Heavies now, I’ll complain that before BTB Heavies, **EVERYONE *[/h]used to pick Hemorrhage over every other map, even though it has to be one of the most-terribly designed maps in Halo: Reach. (Reasons given in other posts.)

It was originally intended for standard BTB but became a chaotic mess with Heavies, I enjoyed the non-heavy version so much more.
In btb I usually come across heavies but get the odd assault game and even less the ctf game type. Personally I find 1 flag ctf a total waste of time, not that normal ctf is much better because half the team always sticks to the flag to prevent people from taking it. Whether they are that hard up for a win or because they want to get Don’t Tough That! I don’t know. Most people seem to prefer the slayer aspect of the game and let’s face it there isn’t that much emphasis on scoring in games like assault, ctf, territories, most people just go for the kill.
Back when I played Ce for PC the usual default player size per game was either 8 or 12 people per team for any map size. Longest with max players made for incredibly fun games, whether ctf or slayer.
I have to say some of the default btb maps are terrible. Spire is all about sniping, though it is mostly fun if played on the ground floor. Boardwalk is aweful, it’s just team slayer with double team size and the same weapon spawns. I don’t mind Hemmorage or HemoRAGE as I’ve seen it called before, but it’s still way too big and too easy to get spawn farmed on.
Overall I enjoy heavies more than standard, while objective games don’t come up as often as before, it’s a lot of fun using vehicles in matchmaking. With the heavies maps favouring vehiclular combat over ground assaults it plays very well to me.
The BTB heavies ma are actually quite fun to play objectives on. Note that many of these maps were tested to be compatible with all major gametypes to be as good as an experience as slayer is. The reason so many people pick hemmorage is for the multiple opportunities for cheap kills. The fact is, Hemmorage isn’t a bad map. It’s a heavily usesd tried-and-true formular for a bare-bones BTB map. Although I say that it’s not a bad map, it’s not my favorie. By far, my favorite map on the playlist is Rasu which is a greatly imroved version of Hemmorage, with similar control points, but with more balnced sightlines and sandbox.
Delta facility would come in a close second, as it’s actually very close to a normal BTB map, and plays objective just as well. It is my opinion though, that the BTB playlist need to phase out some regular BTB maps and introduce new ones. Renegade and Trident come to mind as maps that could be replaced.
BTB needs to lose the dedicated vote slots. Like BTB Slayer always being the first slot.
It’s fine for playlists that have only one or two different gametypes like Swat, but not for BTB where it has a mix of everything.
The Anniversary BTB playlist has more diversity than the normal one.
> The Anniversary BTB playlist has more diversity than the normal one.
<3 Territories
The only thing I dislike about the Anniversary playlist is some of the dynamic spawns on Ridgeline Slayer.
I love Delta Facility, it’s an amazing map I just wish I could try out some other game types on it besides Heavies. I’m not bashing Heavies guys I just need a change of atmosphere.

I never even realized people hated big team heavies? I always thought it was a cool and fun concept in reach because I always felt there were very few maps in reach that utilized vehicles and BTB was the one playlist other than Invasion that did. Heavies just added more vehicles. I can understand why the OP is frustrated because anything with the title “heavies” is almost instantly voted for and if you don’t like heavies I can see how that gets annoying. I wouldn’t mind some objective based heavies though? I don’t know how everyone else would feel about that or why they dislike heavies.
Anyone care to indulge me?

Personally, I prefer the older versions of the gametype. Compared to the old old Gulch Wars from Halo 2, Heavies in Reach is pretty brainless and a bit too chaotic. Especially when it seems they just threw a bunch of random vehicles everywhere like on that Heavies version of Boneyard or Asphalt. I just find it silly when they still don’t take advantage of Boneyard’s size in that situation.
That and no objective version.
