Lack of Customisation Options

Sure Halo 5 had stances, different assasination options which was all very cool but when customising your armor you could only change two things which was the helmet and body armor. I strongly believe they wasted a lot of time making armors that didn’t even look good, most of them were abominations let’s be honest.

What they need is options like Halo Reach where you could make your own Spartan unique over other players by having WAY more customisable options. These are some of the main things I would like to see implemented in the next Halo game.

-Halo Reach type customization

-Better Colors or more colours would be great because it’s not easy to come up with a colour for your Spartan when most of the colours are bad

-Scrap the armors with a dark tinted secondary (you can’t even see the secondary colour and was a stupid idea)

-Put more time and effort into the armors instead of throwing in armors that look like abominations

-Add another playable race (Elites)

-Give us better looking emblems because most of the emblems were awful

-Better looking weapon skins and also when adding a weapon skin don’t just give us the skin for one or two weapons give us the whole set

-Would also be amazing if you added skins you could add to any armor that can be colour customised for example camo, flames etc

Apart from all of that the positives of the customisation was the different assassinations, stances and having a different ingame voice option because that Grunt voice is legendary.

In no way should they scrap the number of sets of armour. however, I too would like more Reach-esque customization with being able to customize all different parts of your armour. I disagree with your “armours that look like abominations”, “most of the emblems are awful”, “better looking weapon skins”, “most of the colours are bad”. No. Your opinion, and you are entitled to it, and while there are some that I am not overly fond of, stop throwing it around like its a fact. Respectfully, I suggest you clarify what you dislike about those sets of armour, weapon skins, emblems and colours, rather than just saying they are bad as though it is a fact. I can and do disagree with you there, but instead of acting like everyone shares your opinion, perhaps specify what you dislike about them, and then perhaps provide us with constructive criticisism, perhaps suggesting what you would like to see done to improve things. Not meaning to sound rude or ranty, but when you state your opinion as though it is fact, and don’t specify why you dislike it, it makes it hard to take anything of value from those points.

On another note, I do think the adding skins to armour idea could work, though only if it were properly implemented IMO.

Just my two cents.

Halo 5 certainly lacked in the customisation department, from the emblems to armour and weapons. I would like Dooms level of customisation. The armour design and look is not to my liking in Halo 5, I hope it improves in Halo 6.

I see this like a simple way to customise, and i liked, if i want the whole armor, i need to unlock one by one, but if majority prefer this, gonna be a new chance to mix the human-covenant armors

To be fair, the options for armor colors are much better than they were in previous Halo games, if I remember correctly. It’s nice to finally have a proper purple. Although Halo 5 lacks the nice teal color that Halo 4 had…

The darkened secondary color on some armor is only one part of a bigger problem, which also includes un-changeable white paint on many armor sets. These things take away my control over what color I can make my Spartan, which is annoying. I would also like the color of the undersuit to be fully customizeable, not just always black on some or all of it.

I fully agree with this. It may not be important to some people, but so many armor sets being too ugly to wear is a big part of why the grind to unlock permanent reqs is so tedious and unfun. But with the req system, their incentive is quantity over quality. I just want them to scrap the req system in Halo 6. It causes more problems than it’s worth, if you ask me.

Fully agree with this too.

I don’t think OP was stating those opinions as fact, as evidenced by the words “I strongly believe” in the main post. I could be wrong, but I just think it goes without saying that people are generally stating their opinions when they make topics.

For example, I could make a topic saying “Elites are ugly. Discuss.” If I made a topic like that, would you think I considered it an objective fact? But I wouldn’t; I would still be aware of the fact that it’s just my opinion, even if I made that topic, and I don’t see any evidence that OP expected us to believe that the opinions in this topic are facts, either. Sure, OP was saying things like “what they need is…” but in my mind, I read it as “what I think they need is…” But maybe that’s just me.

Same here, emphatically

Totally agree. However, I don’t think any of the armor sets should be deleted from Halo 5 (A LOT of helmets need to go).

I wouldn’t pick many armor sets in Halo 5 as a whole, but some armor sets have a nice chest piece, but horrible shoulders/forearms/legs. And other armors have realy nice shoulders, but the rest is just horrible.

In ideal Halo 6 I like the following options to customize

  • Helmet
  • visor
  • Right & left shoulder
  • Right & left forearms
  • chest
  • thrusters
  • upper leg
  • kneeguards
  • lower legs & boots

And maybe like Halo Reach where you could add things to your helmet, legs and forearms.

But maybe that’s too much to ask…

I think Microtransaction are again going to ruin halo 6 customisation

Throwing it around like it’s a fact? Did you not read the part where I said “I strongly believe” and “main things I would like to see implemented” it’s there clear and easy to read so not sure how you thought I was throwing my words around like they were facts lmao.

If you want examples here you go Jumpmaster, Legionaire, Warrior, Cyclops, Engineer, Fenrir, Goblin, Mako, Nomad, Pioneer, Seeker, Tracer, Viper, Argonaut, CIO, Defender, Infiltrator, Raijin, Ranger, Wetwork, Locus and I could keep going if you’d like, but you should get the point by now.

I’ve been playing Halo since 2001 and have played every single Halo game. When I compare the OG of Halo armors to the new, they are abominations. If Halo was real and someone created these looking armors for someone to wear, the chances of them losing theur job would be extremely high. They also don’t make sense, how is someone suppose to even see through the visor and some don’t even have one, truth is they can’t. Also you asking there to be the same amount of armors means they rush their work to pump out armors which end up looking the way they do, hasn’t anyone told you if you take your time and effort with things the outcome will be positive.

I agree with this most of the way and feel I have the ideal solutions to such. So please give any feedback you wish.

First armors need to get a bit of quality control, it’s nice to see new armor but whenever you use parts from already existing armors (this tends to really show on Locus because it’s just a repainted aviator) then that just makes the armor feel like it was done in very little time.

Armor Customization - I feel for the next FPS Halos (however many that’ll be) we should step up customization for the better by making customization like it was in Reach but also allow one to change each gauntlet (and maybe leg armor) separately to allow more armor combos become possible.

Color Palette - Simple, just use a color spectrum palette like you see on many drawing programs to allow us to use any color combo we see fit. (You give us one color you might as well give us all of them, am I right?)

Undersuits - I am sure that I’ve heard more than enough rabble about the undersuits delimma and I feel this could be solved by allowing undersuits to be recolored separately from the armor pieces themselves! You want a black undersuit? Go ahead! You want an undersuits that doesn’t match the color of the armor? More power to you!

Visor - Honestly I feel the visors should work in the same sense as armor colors by having a color spectrum available and you’re to make more “complex” visors (like how certain visors have a black or white sheen to it) by adding another ‘layer’ to color in the visor in any way you wish.

Coloring Armor - I feel this very optional but I feel that if you want you should be able to precisely color each different piece of the armor should you feel that you want to do some complex color combos.

Save armor presets - pretty self explanatory.

More stances- Maybe throw in some forerunner weapon or vehicle stances to spice things up.

Change weapons in stances- I feel when applicable that you should be given the option to change what weapon you wield in a stance, spice things up a bit.

This is just a few ideas that I think could solve for Halo 5’s shortcomings but that’s me. Hopefully this wasn’t a messy read.

is this really a deal breaker for you?

Halo 4 Armor customization was the best IMO since it had everything that Halo Reach had, and poses. Everything besides black undersuits, armour effects and FF voices that is. And the thing that I love about Halo 4 (Same goes for Halo 3) is that you can earn specific armor though various ways. Halo 5 Just doesn’t have that and I’m sure everyone just want to change more than just a helmet and armor. Some people even want to recreate their spartan from a previous Halo, but on Halo 5 we’re so limited and 70% of the unlockable armors are just reskins, it’s very difficult to do so.
