lack of competitiveness

I have been a halo fan from the beginning. But after halo 3, they started making the game for the laid back noncompetitive players, better known as “noobs.” Since halo 4 came out, they have done nothing to gain the competitive players interests. They did not make a competitive ranking system, therefore i play people well below my skill level each and every game even though I am SR 130 which is the highest rank in the game. They took out slayer pro, which was the only competitive playlist the game even offered. Since that occurred, more and more semi pros and pros are converting to call of duty.

Halo Reach was taken off the circuit. The creators could not get their sh*t together and they paid the price. The same thing is happening in halo 4. Anybody who wants competition is forced to play the same people over and over and over again in custom games. 343 is doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO GAIN THE INTEREST OF COMPETITIVE PLAYERS. They are doing things that make their job easier, i.e. taking out the 1-50 ranking system and not making a doubles playlist to avoid dealing with boosters and host booters. I hope with all my heart that this thread CATCHES THE ATTENTION OF AN ADMINISTRATOR SO CHANGES CAN BE MADE. I speak for the MLG community as a whole when I say this…QUIT -Yoink!- I N G AROUND AND GET YOUR S H I T TOGETHER.
I’m playing black ops 2 as I type this. kthxbye.

I’ve been playing competitive Halo for years and right now what’s happening is depressing… but it really shows the pro players in it for the money and assets and the pro’s in it for the love of Halo.

Halo 4 is actually a lot more competitve than reach and a little higher than 3 in social playlists. All the mechanics are there, just not the playlists. But you do not speak for the MLG community, you speak for the minority of wannabe MLG tryhard -Yoinks!-. You wont stop complaining until you get a halo 2 remake, and if you’re switching to blops 2, then you’re not a true halo fan. You could just care less until you get you’re way, completely spewing your bullsht all over the community because thats the kind of person you are. Leave this game that you’ve “cared” about you’re whole life, and never come back!

> Halo 4 is actually**…**

Lol.

Except the MLG community agrees with him (go on, ask any of them), the term “tryhard” is completely idiotic, and several people have already switched to BLOPS 2, which is one of the reasons it’s the most popular game on xbox live.

Really, you have no right to judge how competitive a game is if you criticize people for being “tryhards”, really makes it hard to take you seriously.

And no, they don’t want a remake. They want a game that actually sticks to the same formula. Halo 2 is NOT a Halo 1 Remake, but it uses the same basic formula.

I think from a business standpoint (i.e. games sold) competitive gaming doesn’t make enough money. Remember, you are playing a Microsoft game that is no longer “hindered” by input from those guys at Bungie (Microsoft viewpoint). Any Microsoft product is going to go for the middle to maximize sales. The majority of players (customers) are not serious competitive players. I know I’m not and I love Halo 4. I have no skilz, no aim and no in-game goals. I am the future.

> I think from a business standpoint (i.e. games sold) competitive gaming doesn’t make enough money

I realize WHY they did it. I just don’t agree with it.

Especially when you realize they could’ve potentially made a competitive playlist without all this nonsense to cater to everyone and not just the “majority”.

Those people are in it for the money, the bling, the cash. They could care less, and I agree I shouldnt have said tryhard, but you’re still an idiot. Halo 4 does have the halo “formula”, just not in the playlists. Yea whatever sprint and AAs, but c’mon, have you seen how close the MLG settings are compared to halo 4’s basic gameplay. Sooo much more than reach. I agree that 343 screwed by taking away some things and adding a few things I’m not to fond of, but saying that the game is broken is just idiotic. Heres a link to an MLG player, how bout you give me one thats not from a person that doesnt want a halo 2 remake (aka Ghandi, who btw is playing halo again, thanks 343). Do it I dare you…

Valid point and opinion. I feel bad for you guys. It is depressing to see something you love change for the worse.

So, assuming it’s not too much trouble to explain, what exactly qualifies as competitive gaming?

I get the desire for a Halo 3-style ranking system and the hate for random Ordinance, but if you look at playlists that aren’t BTB or Slayer, what makes them noncompetitive beyond the lack of a ranking system that’s apparently coming(?).

that aren’t ‘slayer’ says it all. The games are not competitive because the lobbies aren’t determined by skill.

Implying that 1-50 from Halo 3 matched you with players of similar skill and provided you with fair matches.

Also, have you heard of balancing for skill? I suggest you look it up on YouTube sometime.

Lol’d hard at this post.

Halo 4 is not competitive period.

Every Match I play no matter the rankings of the players in the game or K/D, I will go positive 20+ and the game is won in the first 3 minutes. This game is garbage and not even one smidgen close to competitive.

Having not played in a month I went back only to destroy 20 even 30 positive again. There is no form of competitiveness. The game just puts a bunch of people together randomly out of a spreadsheet and says go get 30+ on them.

For any game to match a competitive game there needs to be a way to measure players skill in order to pit those players against similarly skilled players.

Going 20+, 30+, 40+ isn’t competitive, it just gets boring as nobody can lay a bullet on you.

Did you just say that your leaving Halo 4 because its not competitive and going to BO 2 because… It is?
I play BO 2 and that has to be the most ludicrous statement I’ve ever heard.
The game is literally made for people who button mash.
I’ve played Halo since H2 and COD since MW1 and I always get on Halo for a challenge.
I stopped playing BO 2 two days ago because its soooo boring. It’s the most repetitive game out there.
You want another halo 3? Take a look at COD it hasn’t changed fundamentally since forever. Apart from kill streaks and guns which in reality are the same guns with different skins. Always a semi auto sniper, bolt action, over powered AR, Automatic shotgun and so on.
Yet more people play it because its easy.
Just saying, I’m a bit blown away by that statement

I stopped reading that brick wall of text after you tried to claim that all casual players are noobs.

Noobs are people who play the game a lot, they often times play competitively yet still act like morons. They’ll have hundreds of games under their belts but still -Yoink!-, team kill and act like they just got the game yesterday.

Newbs are new players and don’t know better. They don’t know the maps and die frequently because of their inexperience. Even at that, casual players are not newbs either. So much wrong with that first line.

It’s people with this kind of attitude that ruin Halo, not “noobs” or ranking systems.

Competitors make the competition. It seems to me that the settings make no difference, it is the drive and commitment the players have and put into the game.

The hardcore gamers of yesteryear have been replaced with sniveling, whining players who cry like babies because they get killed by players who use (insert any mechanic here). Cry foul and launch year long rants to have pieces and dynamics removed from the game.

Had Halo CE been released this year, I honestly think there would be widespread calls for nerfing the pistol.

True enough. If this is about kicking -Yoink- to the point it’s not fun though, you could always do something to handicap yourself. Replace your DMR with a Carbine, no AA, no TP/SU, that kind of stuff.

or it could be the fact that a large majority of competative players are on hiatus from Halo 4 and are not on and whats left of them that still play arent faceing you. I myself used to have games like the one you described that has kind of stopped since. Last competative game i had was on solace in team slayer and before that it was CTF game where through all this intense fighting we keepted tradeing flags. It can get competative and really we cant judge the competativeness of the title without a ranking system that appropriatly matches up equally ranked players.

> Had Halo CE been released this year, I honestly think there would be widespread calls for nerfing the pistol.

Oh don’t be modest. “I think there would be” should just be “there would be”.

I’m not even sure it has anything to do with being “hardcore”. It’s more just dealing with it or finding something else to do with your time.

you could, but when you know a lesser player is spamming the most mind numbingly easy to use gun in the game and still beating you with ease its not fun to handicap yourself.

On your service record it says you’ve never played.
