If anyone is looking for a more-or-less opinionated cost breakdown to see what a deal they would be getting, here you go (All amounts are in USD, and don’t include any sort of taxes for relevancy and conversion):
Full Cost: $100
Halo 4 (Game): $60
Briefing Packet (Book): $5-10
FUD Series (DVD): $20-25
NOTE: All DLC will eventually (after a long period of time) alter in price, based on deals!!! Also consider the rising costs of DLC (BF3 has 1200 Point DLC, for instance)
1st DLC: $10-15 (800-1200 MS Points)
2nd DLC: $10-15 (800-1200 MS POints)
3rd DLC: $10-15 (800-1200 MS Points)
Without including any other form of DLC (Avatar Items, Specializations, etc.), the price of all of this comes out to between $115-40. With other items, it’s about another $10 or so USD, making it $125-150 (The price of a Legendary Edition)
Hope this helped everyone!
i dont think the DLCs will be 1200 for 3 maps…

They will most likely be 800 ms points a pack and that’s 10 bucks each.

Oh great!!! you just had to point out that the LE was underpriced didn’t you…Gee thanks…

It’s still an extra $15 he didn’t have to include o3o

It’s better to be informed than misinformed. Nobody expected BF3 to have a simple weapon pack to cost 1200, now did they? Who’s to say Halo 4 won’t have any 1200 Point DLC? Costs are on the rise, and the Xbox 360 is not exempt from them.
However, I do not disagree with you on this. I did say it was “more-or-less opinionated”. This was a look at what the cost was in all cases. Hence why I put the separated prices.
It’s your pick whether you choose to pay attention to, or even believe that the full price, without deals, is $115 or $150.
Since when was the Forward Unto Dawn series said to be coming on DVD? From all reports I’ve seen it will be a digital version only viewable through Waypoint (no physical copy). It should break down more like this…
Full Cost: $100
Halo 4 (Game): $60
Briefing Packet (Book): $5
FUD Series (digital only): $5 (they’re already giving this series away for free - you’re just getting an extended edition that will only be available online)
1st DLC: $10 (800 MS points)
2nd DLC: $10 (800 MS points)
3rd DLC: $10 (800 MS points)
So let’s see; that’s a total of $100 worth of merch for $100 out of pocket. Still a potentially good decision IF you value the FUD and Briefing Packet (which I personally do not as I would read/watch them one time and never look at them again).

$70
That could have been Limited Edition and I would buy it.
Instead, Limited Edition has mostly mp content. Only the 2 things listed above appeal to campaign players. I’m not paying that much money just to obtain some canon stuff. I’ll resort to piracy, forum browsing, and YT instead.
I don’t think anyone should be arguing about the price. For the content provided, it is obviously worth the price. The LE, however, is very underwhelming in the content that it provides. The bulk of the extra price is for maps that I would buy anyways. Limited editions should provide fans an opportunity to get items mostly unobtainable separately. Halo 4’s LE does not provide this.

It’s an additional 15 minutes of footage (90 Minutes with the LE, and 75 minutes through the marketing campaign), along with extra features. Yes, this will all be leaked online in time, but I would hardly say that that devalues the product as much as you have claimed.
In the end, if you don’t want the bonus content, don’t buy the LE.
