KpaX's Halo Infinite Feedback

KpaX’s Halo Infinite Feedback (Xbox Series X / Elite Controller 4 Paddles)

First of all, I would like to thank 343 Industries und SkyBox Labs for an invitation to the first flight.
I enjoyed the technical preview of Halo Infinite a lot, nevertheless here are my thoughts on how to improve the gameplay.

Aim-Assist needs a slight buff
I am a good player but struggled to get a steady aim.

5x Zoom for the Sniper Rifle
8x Zoom as the lowest is just to high for small maps.

Body collision for team mates need to be activated.

While in the menu, the gamertag is written in caps , but normal in-game.
This needs to be normal written in every section of the game.

Grenade throw need to be stronger.
The range is to short.

I personally dislike the feature of having outline around spartans.
I think its a good idea, but I don’t like how it worked in the first flight.

Selecting spartan armor was kinda weird.
You had to accept the selected armor again, to actually wear it.

The breaking of the spartan shield should be more visible.

Hitting shots with the sniper is incredible hard.
It was a pain to hit shots. Increase aim assist.

I could not see the names of my team mates while in-game.

I could only leave my fireteam, by selecting it and choosing 'leave fireteam’
It would be nice to have an option to leave it by just pressing B and accepting to leave.

The Jump is to low.
Needs to be increased a bit.

While in the lobby screen, the news in the bottom right corner are covering the fireteam
Please make news a lot more transparent and only visible when we are actually selecting or hover over it.

Plasma Weapons need to be adjusted
They deal way to much damage across the whole map

Increase the time to kill
I always like the fact, that I could destroy a whole team of spartans by myself.
I don’t get that feeling anymore, because every weapon or skill of player can actually deal enough damage to you in a short time.

Game has a lot of potential. Really enjoyed it, can’t wait for the release.

This just about sums up how I feel. Cheers

I only quoted the things I disagreed with.

I prefer no aim assist and I played with both a keyboard and xbox elite controller. Aim assist is a plague to multiplayer gaming as it is essentially allows a player to appear good without actually being good.

I thought the outline system was a great idea. Maybe it could use some slight tweaking but I thoroughly enjoyed it and got quite used to it by the end of the tech preview.

I also like the fact that the sniper, while still really great is more difficult to use. I think it is a pretty good balance. I think one thing that could help the sniper a bit is decreasing how aggressive the zoom is. Which will in turn make it slightly easier to aim. It does not need aim assist.

Time to kill is perfect. I had no issues wiping people out and getting a triple kill. Having too much time to kill also increases that for the opposing team. I think it would still yield the same result and just making people go through a ton of more ammo.

It is not easy for me to reply to such a comment.

Aim-Assist is an essential part of multiplayer games for console players.
You can not compete with PC Gamer if you don’t have any kind of aim-assist!
I watched ElamiteWarrior play some games on controller, he then switched to PC and immediately improved in his aiming and movement too!

Aim assist is an essential feature, very hard to implement well, but absolutely a must Have for any 3D Shooter, especially for a Halo game. You want to be a Master chief guy, not the lame noob you are in real life

You can not compete with PC Gamer if you don’t have any kind of aim-assist!

It’s silly that some people don’t get this, look up console gameplay of people using the commando, then pc players, the difference is night and day.
It’s the range of motion of the thumb versus the whole arm and people somehow think the thumb can compete?!

Thanks for your comment ! I hope more people like you will reply, so that these people will finally realize the huge difference between controller and pc with keyboard and mouse (thumb vs whole arm and muscle memory in hand and finger movement

The problem with the sniper is not the aim assist imo, it’s both the magnification being too high and the maps we got to play on being too small. I think people will find the sniper to be more than usable once we get to play on some larger maps.

thats actually a very good thought!

but what is with short range sniping ? No-Scoping is a huge thing in Halo since the beginning, but in Infinite I felt like a noob with the sniper.

The aim assist for no-scoping feels almost absent. If that’s the direction the want to take the sniper that’s fine with me but if not they need to turn it up a bit. No-scopes shouldn’t be easy to pull off but right now they’re basically impossible on controller atm.

thats why they need to increase aim assist.

M&K have such a huge advantage, because they can control power weapons like the sniper way better then controller players atm.

I hope the next flight will already try some increased aim-assist

Very true. Mouse and keyboard completely bypasses aim assist tuning, so they really should increase the aim assist in general for the sniper, but especially for no-scopes. It wouldn’t hurt to bring back 5x zoom as well, 8x just feels too high as a minimum zoom level.

I think they were a little more focused on large scale game modes and large campaign levels when designing the Sniper this time around. I’m not sure how I feel about it until we see bigger maps.

I agree with you !

The aim assist statement you made is just false. It is nearly impossible to use a controller without aim assist bud. Only the best in the world can do it and even they were struggling. Its there to make a controller a viable option especially for casual gamers which will be 99% of the people that try the game. Ive been playing halo for 15 years and consider myself a very good player. Ive played against pros at the highest ranks in pretty much every halo. Even I think aim assist needs some help in addition to reworking the aim smoothing on controller. This is mainly for the sniper and skewer and pistol. Br felt fine and so did the Ar.

I agree somewhat but the sniper had actually 0 aim assist. It also felt very clunky and heavy. They should make it feel like the h3 sniper (pinnacle sniper in the series in terms of feel and getting headshots)

Before I give my opinion, I think I’ll wait for the next flight to really get an idea about the game.

Sounds like a good plan!

BUT, whats your opinion right now, did you like the gameplay ?

that is not true. Just because you use a mouse and keyboard does not mean you are immediately good at it. Yes AA is vital but i feel like at this time with how AA was implemented, it is fine. I dont know why you think anyone can become good at mnk just by picking it up

not quite the case. It depends on the player rather than the input. You make it sound as if a player or anyone picking up the mouse makes the person better. Like that’s just incorrect.
