KOTH vs Strongholds

Which do you prefer ?? I won’t voice my opinion until a few others have posted theirs. Please support your decision as best you can. The Question again is not about any particular halo game just the gamemodes KOTH or Strongholds

KOTH. If you’re playing solo you still have a good idea what everyone is going to do. If you’re playing Stronghold solo it’s just basically a game of chance.

KOH its much more fun. Stronghold is just a bunch of confused people running around

You know the forum actually has a poll function exactly for questions like these

I think strongholds is the superior of the two. Ofcourse it’s the one that requires more competent teammates. But it’s also the one that is more rewarding for solid team play.

I would prefer strongholds if it had a more normal scoring system (1 node = 1 point, 2 nodes = 2 points, 3 nodes = 3 points) but as it is I would take crazy king over strongholds any day.

Koth is much more fun. Everyone is going to one Place and there is always Action.

I never really liked the KOTH game types. It would allow a team to camp and scope the hill point from a long way away and simply pick off anyone who tried to enter, occasionally sending one member of their team to cap it for a few seconds when the other team was dead. It didn’t require that much “strategy” in my mind either, as everyone was just running to a single point and chucking all the grenades they could without much real “aiming” (from my experience).

On the other side, the way that Stronghold is designed the team defending a point not only has to kill the members inside of the cap but also has to send a member of their team to that point to ‘reset’ it. It adds in a small subtle level of strategy to the game (do I leave my sniping post to reset the cap, or stay here and continue to pick people off?). Also, with three points instead of one it spreads the action out a bit over the entire map, instead of focusing on one location, and can also lead to sneak caps for a defending team not paying much attention. I’ve also seen times where a team that is leading will take the ‘risk’ of capping the third point (instead of just holding onto two) only to lose that battle as well as losing one of their other locations, which again plays into a little strategy as well of when to hold points and when to go for the third.

On top of that is the major scoring difference. Some people don’t like the “hold 2 to score” rule but personally I love it. It has led to several comebacks for my teams, as well as games that are never ever really “over”. In previous scoring rules one team could essentially ‘give up’ at a certain point as they were almost guaranteed to win with all of their team standing on one point. Now you actually need to work to defend till the last point is scored, which I prefer and it gives the losing team a fighting chance to get back into the game or perhaps turn the tides into a victory.

I love both. KOTH seems better if you’re solo and Strongholds seems better for a team. I might say strongholds because of how much I love it in Halo 5 though. It needs it’s own playlist.

I find that they are both pretty similar in my opinion. I agree with a previous post that with KOTH, everyone is going for one place so you know you are running right into battle. The problem is that it’s easy to get a team of people who will just camp for kills and not even try to play the objective. In strongholds I feel like more people are playing the objective than KOTH. But that’s just my experience.
