Ive hated these gametypes since Halo 2 because they never seemed right. The hill was always too small and would cause some major grenade spam (worst in Reach) and in oddball, beat down with the ball was two hit and it removed your radar if you held it.
Now I’m happy to say that these two modes are finally worth playing. The hills are huge, the oddball only doesn’t allow you you sprint and shoot (beat downs are one hit), and the throwing feature in oddball makes it the most tactical gametype in the game.
Give em’ a try sometime. Their playlist numbers shouldn’t be so low
Sadly I think they have that stigma though of people only play it to “pad stats” which I think is an absurd statement. Kills are kills and every match I’ve played in so far of CTF, Koth, and oddball everyone was either defending or going offense for objective. Also many players think koth and oddball I guess are boring when in fact they take a lot more skill to win in than regular slayer. The objective modes are quite exciting when they come down to the wire.
Yeah, I’m really happy with KOTH. It’s my favorite game type in GOW3, and I was really happy that 343 provided a similar gametype inside the Halo. Definitely tons of fun!
