With things like ‘hunt the truth’ and ‘know your enemy’, these bring up lots of questions. We know that with hunt the truth, we found out some… Controversial topics. Like how cortana came back to life and how there wasn’t a huge fight between chief and Locke.
My my theory is this: the banished are actually the good guys here and the unsc learns about the created’s plot and join the created.
My second theory is that the banished think that humanity is with the created and cause a first strike, but then learn that the spirit of fire has had no outside contact for almost 30 years. And they team up.
Possible? Likely? Or flat out stupid. Post what you think down below

I think the Banished are on the Ark and acting against the Created. Why else would they be there in the context of post Halo 5 verse?
But, that doesn’t automatically make them allies. If you look at how Atriox behaves in the cinematic, sadistic, ruthless, very much seems to hate humans with his armour adorned with fallen pieces of armor; this is not a nice guy. Plus, the bio’s they have released for his two lieutenants have stated that they both despise humans, its why the elite commander didn’t join the Arbiter even though he doesn’t believe in religious Covenant and the other Brute is noted for enjoying killing lesser human soldiers. Again, not nice people.
I think if they wanted the Banished to ally with the humans he would be much more closely modeled on the Arbiter as a progressive who respects humans and has honor. I really don’t get that vibe from Atriox.
My suspicion is that in fighting the Banished the Spirit of Fire inadvertently grants Cortana access to the Ark and stop Atriox plans to stop them. Think how in Combat Evolved the Covenant are fighting to stop the Flood from escaping but we never team up with them. A common goal doesn’t automatically lead to a mutual alliance.
They have played on this mystery of why the Brutes are on the Ark and how we all got there so there probably is something to the Banished motives that is more grey. But I would hate to see them set up a big bad villain and faction just to back track and make us buddies. We’ll get plenty of chance to play as Atriox in this rumored DLC campaign.

Thinking about it now, they would most likely just have a mutual enemy, like you said. Also, I had forgotten about Atriox’s bio and reading my original post, the humans and banished would just have a common enemy and not really be ‘best buds’.
But most people would say that the banished are working with the created because of the fact that the banished are the main antagonists (that we know of) without thinking outside the (x)box.
So I’ll have to agree with the points you made there
“Know your enemy” Is referring to the tug of war style of warfare in the trailer. Atriox and Cutter send a unit which is more effective than the other to clamber to the top of the pile. It’s simply going back on that gameplay we all are familiar with which requires you to be on top of your game, know what counters what, thus know your enemy.
If we learned anything from Hunt the Truth, then it means nothing at all.
I kinda figure “Know your Enemy” was referring to the typical RTS play style which includes scouting and preparing an army to flank and to tyrannosaurus wreck them.

Yes but, with hunt the truth we were all thinking ‘what is Locke trying to get out of Chief?’ And it turned out that it was a huge misunderstanding. This makes me think that the same sort of thing will happen for the ‘know your enemy’. Could be wrong, but I am open to opinions
I think it was simply the name of the vidoc as it showed off new characters

The only way they team up is if the flood attacks, and the banished dislike humanity and I doubt there dumb enough to think the unsc teamed up with the created
You guys are blowing this out of proportions, it just refers to the fact that the game is an RTS and in strategy games you need to know you enemy’s strengths and weaknesses in order to win. It’s really that simple. No grand conspiracy.
