Know Why We Got Grifball Before Infection?

We got Grifball before Infection because Grifball is mildly competitive. Infection isn’t competitive at all.

We got grifball before infection because 343 has no clue what they are doing.

Nah man, it’s all about the competitive nature of gametypes.

is still love griffball

They have no clue what they’re doing because they didn’t put in the gametype that YOU wanted? Sorry friend, a lot of people wanted grifball too. Don’t waste your time telling me that infection is more wanted than grifball because there is no way of knowing which one is actually more wanted.

Because the ball gave potentially more than one playlist gametype (that they’ll take forever to actually add), as opposed to Infection which was never really popular playlist wise but extremely popular for mini-games in custom games.

That could definitely be the case, although Reach’s Infection playlist is one of the most consistently populated. I don’t know about Flood from Halo 4.

Infection takes some skill because of the headshots and timing. Grifball is still awesome.

I’ve gone into Grifball for my daily win pack the last couple of days. I think that Halo 5’s Grifball is nearly perfect.

I think the more likely answer is that they were able to alter ball properties and kill two birds with one stone.

We got Grifball because they were getting Assault style game modes ready. It’s also the easier to implement, all you have to add is the bomb/ball, the spot where it is armed/scored and your done. Infection is like slayer in a way but with more mechanics. Plus if you want Infection done right, and if you want it to have Flood skins or whatever it’s going to take even more time. I can wait for Infection, so long as its good

And you are basing this on what? Support your claim…

Pretty sure Microsoft is pulling all the strings.

Halo 5 is all about being competitive… Some would say to an exhausting degree. It seemed a likely reason to me, but I welcome all of the (so far more likely than mine, lol) suggestions that people have put forth. This thread is a breather from some of the salt…

The salt.

MS was the reason 343 shipped an incomplete game, when they had the same amount of time as bungie ever did? Don’t think its a microsoft problem.

This thread isn’t about that.

Miss infection

That’s why I feel like we don’t have it yet. It’s either Arena or Warzone. Infection doesn’t really fit into either one of those categories because it’s clearly not Warzone and it’s not exactly super competitive for Arena. But I don’t care if it doesn’t fit in with either of them every time I come and look at the forums here there is always something infection related. The players obviously want infection especially since it’s what’s needed in order to craft some of the best and most popular custom games. Which is where I have the most fun playing past halos, playing custom infection games on custom maps with friends and randoms.

I would be so pleased if this whole competitive discussion would just vanish, I can’t hear it anymore…
Halo was and is indeed one of the most competitive arena shooters and I’m totally fine with that, but is there really a need for every piece of it to be super competitive?
Heck I play Halo for all the fun you could have with it, all the crazy gamemodes, beautiful maps and yep even the customization. Well that’s exactly what games are for, having fun with or without friends.
Back in the days of CE Halo meant: You meet with all your friends drink some beers, talk about the new chick in your class and just play some games of BTB together. Competition was never a thing for us, if we would have wanted to compete we went out and played some handball.
However what I’m trying to say is all past Halo’s left some room for both competitive and fun players like us and everything was fine, but Halo 5 just seems to excel on the competitive side while failing at the fun front. To be honest my favorite Halo was reach, because it was paradise for the fun players but sucked for the competitive crew.

I think it’s all about finding the balance between competitive and fun and the game that did that right was in fact Halo 3 (and god -Yoink!- I really hate Halo 3 but it’s the best example for that balance) so I hope 343 puts their focus back on pleasing both parties for Halo 6 and abra kadabra if everything works it will have a wider playerbase.

Note: This is no offense towards competitive players or e-sports in general.
