I was curious if anyone has heard anything about the assault rifle in halo 4, or used it yet?
is it as powerful as halo 3? or is it weak and useless like in reach?
Some people have been saying that it is slightly more powerful than reaches I believe
I heard it’s extremely powerful at close range. About time we had an Assault Rifle worth using!
What? The AR was much better in Reach. The recticule bloom allowed for betetr bursting, it was more accurate, and it felt more powerful.
Plus, it had far more room sandbox-niche wise than in 3.
Reach’s AR took 19 rounds to kill someone. That makes no sense… you can’t even get 2 kills a clip and most your shots will miss anyway. So you have to most likely use 2 clips to get 1 kill. Ive seen myself RELOAD after taking shields off several times during a fight. wow…
Ive seen Halo 4s AR kill 2 ppl… so its pretty good. And thers even a video of it getting a triple kill… Hense it did take down 2 fully shielded ppl and 1 person with no shields.
Ppl who say the AR in reach is better… have NO -Yoink!- CLUE what theyre talking about. They jsut like the sound and pretty look. They havent tested damage with it. Halo 3 ar could get 2 kills a clip as well. But reaches cannot.

The Reach AR has absolutely no place in the sandbox. While it does have accuracy while bursting, it just lowers the already-pitiful damage output. Even unloading full auto, it will lose to almost every other weapon in the game. At least the Halo 3 AR had a nice defined role, and was semi-decent as a melee weapon.
The Halo 4 AR is pretty powerful; it kills in 17 shots maximum, maybe even less. It will be able to outgun any precision weapon up close, and the bloom is punishing enough to discourage spraying outside close range.
From what I’ve seen in gameplay videos, the Assault Rifle in Halo 4 is pretty darn powerful, more so than the one in Reach and Halo 3.
