It looks like King of the Hill replaced the definitive Crazy King of the Hill that was used throughout the Halo franchise in multiplayer. Because of the dynamics of Crazy KOTH, it obviously made for better online gaming. So what happened to this playlist?
I’d also like to add this point, That gametype could really use some Gears of War 3 KOTH gametype rules. Epic Games pretty much nailed the gametype for what it needs to be in order for it to play right. Of course, I’m talking about the mechanics specifically for being in the hill.
In GoW3 KOTH, when you cap the hill, (it actually takes time and effort to cap it) you are able to leave it and let your points accumulate until the opposing team comes in and breaks it. This fundamental mechanic works perfectly because it doesn’t force you to get blown up by grenades and any other explosive projectiles there might be on the map. You can strategically place yourself in a better position so your average life isn’t less than 20 seconds.

Edit: Before Epic Games decided to nail the definitive KOTH gametype, they originally had it in Gears of War 1 & 2, however it was called Annex.
Furthermore in the Gears of War 3 King of the Hill, the longer the game goes the faster the hill changes, this makes for some real intense, real competitive, and real skills for gameplay.
I gotta admit the longer a game drags out, the more satisfying it is because of the fierce competition between two teams actually working hard to win. These are usually the games I finish and it leaves me with some of the highest satisfactions in multiplayer.
Yes! So much yes! I, Personally, don’t like Halo’s way to handle King of the Hill. It’s just grenade spam fest and when you are in hill, you are just pure cannon fodder. I like GoW’s take on this gametype a lot. When you capture it then you just can protect it a little further.
The closest I could imagine getting is doing a 3-plot style gameplay with only 1-plot active. Of course, Halo 4 doesn’t have Territories, although it might be possible to make do with Dominion.

Extraction is terrible based on the very few chances I was able to play it in matchmaking.
Dominion is nothing but Team Power Weapons everytime I play it.
