This whole score 1 point for standing on the hill for 60 seconds is bs to the max. It doesn’t matter how long you stand on the hill if the other team finishes their point first, making all the time you spent it useless. It is impossible to carry your team of brainless noobs this way.
conclusion: they won’t
its actually been very successful, it leads to extremely close matches.
I actually like the break up into mini-hills.
It works well for both KOTH and Oddball.
Just out of interest - how does the old fashioned way help?
I used to feel like you do, but I have had so many tied games and time running out hectic matches. that are just barely won or lost and it feels terrific.
My brain screams at me to fight in Halo infinite for a single point. It feels far easier to give up on Halo 3 if the enemy is 120 points ahead (which is also two completed 60 sec holds).
Because the points you score by simply standing on the hill still count, as opposed to this method where if your bar doesn’t fill up all the way, it’s for nothing. Those little bits where you have the hill to yourself while the enemy respawns add up. The new oddball format is also terrible. I’ve lost games where we’ve had more ball time total.
Fair point.
I just treat KOTH as best of 7, and Oddball as best of 3.
The new configuration allows for more chances at come backs. Depending on your view point that could be good or bad, but I find it more enjoyable.
It is way less punishing for teams that fall behind, which might be viewed as removing some of the aspects of Halo that have always hyper-rewarded good execution
It plays differently, for sure, but I don’t think it is worse. Not sure it is better, just different. I’m fine with it as-is.
