Kinect Impliacations that could work.

In this day and age it seems that Microsoft is using, and focusing on Kinect to perfect it’s usage and get the market used to seeing its name everywhere, weather it be through useless gimmicks or cool, interesting ways to do something. I.E. the Skyrim shouts, which is still useless and gimmicky but does indeed work.

My point and purpose of this thread is to not just wildly guess ,which you can still do of course, but to expect ,if there be, a kinect implication into Halo 4 that would work. I know most of you would just simply dismiss this idea but just ponder on the matter, and if anything comes up just post! Also it doesn’t have to be a gameplay mechanic, it could just be something like scrolling through the menus, or telling the kinect what map you want to play with a game mode.

What I think would be cool is the ability to scan items and use them as your emblem for your multiplayer character. Of course they would need to screen them to make sure there isn’t anything “immature” about them. Or they could set up a reporting system where if like say 20 or so people report your image 343i then looks into it and sees what’s wrong with it… But I’m going off topic, anyway after you scan the image you then can crop what you scanned and select exactly what you want to use as your emblem.

An alternate control scheme, like in Anniversary. No gimmicks, no exclusive features, just the opportunity to play with motion controls if that’s your thing. Even combining Kinect with the traditional gamepad (Kinect for voice commands) could work.

Just keep what the had for CEA, that was subtle and didnt alter gameplay and was still really cool

Voice commands for Forging. The ability to give a voice command to spawn an item would be cool. However, the coolest implementation of voice commands would be the ability to give direct coordinate commands, like being able to have an object rotate 57 degrees on the pitch in one command, for instance. That way, if you have some odd angle that won’t allow you to use rotation snaps (and especially if all three of the rotations are at odd angles), you could rotate them without having to get there by scrolling one degree at a time. Even if it couldn’t be made available for each and every forge feature (like advanced tags and such), it should at least allow basic item spawning, and the ability to alter the placement & rotation.

Skeletal tracking in theater mode. This would allow people to make more expressive machinima. I would want this for halo5 on the next Xbox and with the next version of Kinect.

Kinect will never work

Sorry, no kinect in Halo 4, though they are looking at it though

I like the idea of some sort of ‘Gallery’ in options or something. Basically, throughout the campaign you can discover and unlock figurines, concept art etc.

In the Gallery, you can use motion control to move and rotate figurines (SSBM anyone?) and glide across concept art and pictures.

There could also be a section called the ‘Armoury’ within the gallery, which displays all the weapons (need to be unlocked?) and you can use motion control to pick them out and examine them (rotate, zoom etc.) There would also be information on them to read.
You could also include spartan armour in the Armoury too.

Cool features with a lot of potential and dont alter game play. Im sure theres a lot more than can be done with it!

Bulls–t

  • Making your Spartan in the Armory interactive (much like you do when inspecting a car in Forza Motorsport 4)
  • Selecting (and placing) objects in Forge through voice
  • Controlling Theater mode through voice
  • Could make Terminals a lot more exiting if we were able to actually interact with them
  • Could work next to a controller much like in CEA (not ideal, but it is possible)
  • If they-d put tons and tons of work in this, you could theoretically use your body attached to the wireframe of your on screen character and act out machinima…

Kinect CAN work.
Developers just need to be more creative with it, and use it in a way that compliments the controller in core games.

But since H4 won’t have Kinect support it is now unneccecary to talk about it

People still use the Kinect?

Pfft. I use it to keep my door open.
