I want it, do you want it?
Nope, I once owned Kinect, no good titles for launch, sold it and spent my money well.
Halo 4’s intergration will not even touch Multiplayer I think.

Sorry this is off-topic extremely, but how much did you get for selling yours? I’m thinking about selling mine too.
OT:
To be honest, I don’t even use the voice command to turn on the xbox, i do it manually. I think it would be/is a waste of space, in my opinion. I would rather have a nice map editor, or tons of customization, or a cool less dull forge with tons of vehicles.
Because in the end, you buy a game to relax (at least i do.) not stand up and flail your arms around.
… that’s my two cents.

I bought mine Boxing Day 2010 and then sold it in about Feburary, got only about 50-75£ for it, I honestly can’t remember but I advise selling it, it literally has no good games, it’s tiring as well.
The whole point of Kinect is to try to turn all us lazy gamers into fit drones! Not gonna happen. My roommate bought Kinect and 6 games, 3 were so bad he trashed them. No, he didn’t even bother to take them to gamestop because they wanted to give him 2-3$ for 60$ games he just bought. 10$ store credit at the most. Needless to say he was pretty livid.
If they did Halo 4 Kinect ready, they better do some MAJOR work on it.
Hmm i have yet to try Kinect, it looks interesting but not something i have the money for. Not even sure if you have to get a new 360 with the sensor. Then again, the entire set up of Kinect (beyond how they work in the games and menus) is completly foreign to me.
Plus i am pretty active in working out and running, so the Kinect is tougher sell because that.
I wouldn’t mind it being Halo 4 as long as it doesn’t get in the way of the core experience.

This as well, Kinect is for the more fitter gamers who have a big room to actually fit Kinect in.
Plus Kinect’s technology hasn’t been fully explored yet, it’s really bad at detecting your body.

They should.
Eh I’d rather see some amazing core features and the Halo I’m hoping for than some gimmicky Kinect features… but because it’s Microsoft… and it’s their call… they’ll want to promote the Kinect in any way possible… so eh…
I really would like to see some more vehicles… something feels like it’s missing… like there should be more but there isn’t… I miss my Chopper… but that’s not what’s missing… I don’t know what it is though.
They better not ruin Halo with Kinect…anyone watch the Ghost Recon Kinect trailer at e3? Can you imagine constanly aiming like that?
Other things are cool, but time consuming. Sure, it’s cool as crap to wave your hand around the menu to select things, but it takes forever.
The only thing they could do with kinect is to add squad mechanics; “Move up, Stay back, Attack!” etc. God knows the
AI marines are too stupid to do that themselves.

The Ghost recon Kinect is for gunsmith and is even optional there
I personally love Kinect. sure it’s low on good games but it brings the family together and allows us big gamers to play with people who wouldn’t call themselves gamers per say.
Also, I love the features intergrated into Mass Effect 3 and also the gunsmith in Ghost Recon. Halo 4 will have Kinect whether you like it or not because it’s a first party title for Microsoft. Who knows 343 might make an awesome cool way of using it.
Also, you guys are so lazy “oh I sold my kinect because it’s tiring” what excuse is that?! Haha. Lazyarses.

No really, it’s actually a joke, jumping around my room for 30 minutes isn’t fun, tiring and plain stupid.
Then Kinect isn’t for you then is it.
I think every game in the future will have Kinect compatibility in some form
I rather them not waste their time and effort but we already all know that they are.
They may as well add support for it as an optional alternative controller but there shouldn’t be anything that requires it.
> They may as well add support for it as an optional alternative controller but there shouldn’t be anything that requires it.
This.
And I think MS and 343i know this should be the case.
Look at how they also make/made Kinect optional for games like ME3, Ghost Recon, Child of Eden etc.
They both know people don’t want to be playing a Halo game with 100% Kinect controls, so don’t count on that being the case.
Kinect in any Halo game (including Anniversary) will “definatly” (IE: more than likely) be optional, and even then probably supporting the standard controller (hybrid controls are ideal for incorporating Kinect in core games).
Now, where could Kinect be implemented in H4?
Well:
-
Forge. Much like how GR:Future Soldier uses Kinect voice controls to let you quickly assemble a gun, Forge could definatly benefit from voice controls to get rid of navigating through menus and just pick the exact piece you want to use.
And even motion controls could easily work within Forge for placing, moving, deleting objects etc. -
Theater. Voice controls in video are already part of Kinect and the main functions of the 360. Voice controls could easily work within Theater mode.
Now imagine in Theater Mode actually would let you use motion controls to make machinima… -
Armory. Same thing as with Forge: can be used to make customizing your character a lot more streamlined. And on a “non functional” but just fun note, they could have your character imitate your movements, so you can look at your creation from more angles than just the “spinning around” we currently have. Think of this like the car detail function of Forza 4 (more or less)
scanning custom patterns/logos/emblems and sticking them on your character? -
Terminals. I wouldn’t mind Terminals having extra gameplay features when using Kinect. Interacting with Forerunner/Precursor/whatever technology through motion and voice commands would be uber sci-fi and although just a small feature would definatly be fun.
-
Multiplayer. Kinect could just replace the headset. No big deal here. Could also be used as an extra to show the face of the dude you just killed for instance in a small screen in a corner of the HUD.
Just communicative functions here.
And then obviously there could (and should) be voice and motion controls for just browsing the menus throughout the entire game etc.
What is important (and also very likely) is that Kinect won’t be an integral part of the core gameplay, but will be there to enhance it where it feels right. In parts of the game like Forge, Armory or Theater Mode Kinect could fit in very well.
Again: nobody wants to use Kinect only to play Halo. And MS and 343i sure as hell know that. But that doesn’t mean Kinect can’t do cool things in other parts of the game. I know hating on Kinect is cool and all that, just to show how much of a hardcore gamer you are and all that kind of crap. But think outside of the standard “its going to be used for full controller replacement” concept, and also try to grasp the concept of “optional” and you’ll see possibilities that won’t ruin a game.
If Kinect would be used in any of the above categories I would definatly use it and you won’t hear me complain. But Kinect as a controller replacement in core gameplay: no please (although I am not afraid that is going to happen).
It could be in campaign, it would be really fun then but a NO NO in multiplayer unless there’s a kinect playlist.

I agree with all of this. They should definately add these useful features. It would be really good.
