Kinda forgot about those #HuntTheTruth trailers

What the hell happened there? I just rewatched both trailers and I’m even more pissed off looking back on those. The story had so much potential yet they still managed to mess up the story. I remember being so hyped and even posting on here and reading theory’s on what people thought was gunna happen. The multiplayer is amazing on Halo 5 but they majorly messed up the story. I loved Locke in nightfall and even would of liked him still if they made the story actually good. But after what we got I kinda just wish they would of never made Locke and just did more with the Arbiter.

This has been talked to death since released. The marketing team screwed up big time, simple as that.

I know but I just feel like 343 owes us an apology or atleast needs to say something about it. Have they said or done anything about it at all?

The “radio” show was just as misleading, for being well written & acted. Angers me still. I faithfully followed the whole first season.

They’ve said their fanbase is to young to understand the story pretty much. Pretty much they insulted us, and have since said nothing on it.

It is probably better to forget the whole hunt the truth thing.

I am kinda glad they are abandoning it… That whole “is Master Chief a traitor” angle was dumb.

Yea, one of the most misleading things ever.

You are the only other person on this site I’ve seen with this opinion (I also like Locke in Nightfall, at least more than in Halo 5).

After past videos and posts about this they all pointed to a lot of the community not liking the idea of The Chief as a possible traitor. After the backlash they changed the story and removed some of the story from it.
I was hyped about the story during the hunt the truth, but I never thought it was going to be Chief as a traitor. I figured he knew something and disobeyed an order to stop something grin happening. I also thought Locke and the others didn’t know why he left but were following orders. Then eventually would find out the truth and help him.
Watching the trailer and gameplay from E3 2015 shows a vastly different story path then what we received. Which makes me think they mashed A lot of what they had already created to go with the new story to save time from redoing everything.

I feel like they had a different story in mind to begin with.

That beings said, I’ve actually never seen the Hunt The Truth trailers.

Other than Frank O’Connor insulting us for not liking the story and other employees calling us entitled kids over expecting a good game, no, nothing at all that I’m aware of.

Well I did! I thought it was a pretty cool thing they tried to do. They just should of used him differently in the game and maybe he would of got more love.

Yeah me too! That’s another thing that upset me cause they were not exactly short either…

That’s a good theory and it makes sense but still they should of just stuck to their story. It probably would of turned out better that way

#huntthelies is the new slogan people gave it. It was absolute garbage and didn’t tie in at all into what actually went on in the story. I think there was some kind of mix up in the development of the story and it was so close to release they had to think of something to fill it in with.

I’ll admit after giving it some thought/reading other peoples reactions on the forums, I agree OP. Those “Hunt the Truth” trailers were nothing like what was in the H5 campaign what so ever. Maybe for like a brief moment in mission 3 when Chief/Locke had the fist fight, and that was it. Closest thing to the “Hunt the Truth” trailers if ya ask me. If they messed up with the H5 “Hunt the Truth” trailers/H5 campaign itself, I can’t wait and see what they’ve got in store for the H6 trailers.

Don’t forget about the cut scenes at the start and end of H2A that don’t fit anywhere in the H5 story.

The story felt like it was torn apart and pieced together last minute, they originally described the Locke missions in the game informer magazine more as detective work/ killing enemies , which was apparent on meridian when you were investigating where the chief went. Elements were there, of course they weren’t there long, But it didn’t feel misleading. The whole campaign felt like the similar halo 2 situation where they had to scrap a ton then build from what they had. Unfortunately, 343 wasn’t able to pull it off. Some sort of decisions were made behind closed curtains because the campaign had puzzle pieces missing. We won’t know truly what happened for awhile now until they do a doc or something years from now, which I suspect won’t happen. Regardless I enjoyed how the campaign played. Just wished I played as the chief more often. Don’t forget 343 made halo 4, which for me was a superb campaign. They know how to right a story, something just went wrong which is pretty apparent.
