I see a lot of threads complaint about the DMR being the most powerful weapon since it has the quickest killtimes (used to be carbine before it was nerfed)
There are just as many threads complaining about the BR not being a 4 shot kill and having the longest killtimes.
I have two words to say: aim assist.
Ever wonder why it is harder to no scope with sniper rifle than with a precision weapon? Aim assist.
The DMR will have it much less aim assist than either the BR and the Carbine. The V
Carbine will have the most but will be less effective at long distance than either of the two.
The BR falls somewhere in the middle and will probably be the main primary for most people.
The Light Rifle falls inbetween the BR and DMR (kinda overkill on precision weapons but the more the merrier…if balanced correctly).
TLDR: Killtimes aren’t the only important factor in determining the best weapon. As of now, it seems all of them are pretty balanced but I suspect the BR will still be the fan favorite.
(Personally, I’m most excited about the automatics. Their killtimes are about the same as the DMR in their respective ranges and you don’t even have to land every shot. Just play them close to like you would a shotgun in previous games (only stay right outside of melee range) and precision users will be toasty toast.)
Yeah, some people are mad the the BR isn’t almighty anymore. But neither is the DMR. I suspect all the MLG pros will select a variety of the 4 precision weapons and if any of them are used more than the other, it will still be the BR.
I think people are used to having the BR as a weapon that beats almost all others. It’s probably hard to get over the fact that is has some competition now.
> The BR isn’t Halo’s god weapon anymore. People just need to get over it. I’m glad 343i is forcing people to use the rest of the sandbox instead of relying solely on one weapon.
343i isn’t forcing anything. Like I’ve said before. It doesn’t matter what gun the player is using. What matters is who the player is behind the gun.

By the rest of the sandbox I assume you mean the DMR? because a weapon that kills faster, is more accurate, has more ammo and takes up less of the screen sounds like the new God weapon when compared to the BR, honestly just seems 343 wants to cater for the reach noobs who couldn’t use the BR and sucked at halo 3 and halo 2 (Not saying I am good, but I have played enough halo to know that the BR was a more skilful weapon than the spam rifle, sorry the DMR)).

now this doesn’t really apply to past Halo games except Halo 2 and maybe CE. There were plenty of weapons in 3 and Reach where someone half as good as you will probably beat you because you are using the wrong weapon (duals-Halo 3, AR/Repeater-Reach).

None of those factors are as important as aim assist. Besides, from the footage we have seen, the guy who owns with the DMR is usually the only good player in the game while the rest suck pretty bad.

That’s not what I meant. I’de rather have a smart player with a mediocre shot than a stupid player with a good shot. The smarter players are always going to come out on top.

VERY large factors that fall into one on one encounters, which I see rarely compared to a 2 (or more) on 1 (or more). It’s carnage out on the Halo battlefield. You can’t possibly expect to have accurate measurements of every weapon’s kill times with every single encounter in the game.
I do agree with you on the light rifle, when scoped in anyway. But the carbine also kills slower than the DMR yet is requires you to land more shots and can get less kills in a magazine, carbine 8 shots to kill 18 in a magazine, DMR 5 shots to kill 14 in a magazine.
Video evidence has been posted to show that the DMR also has aim assist so tell me why I should use the BR when the carbine is better, the DMR is better and the light rifle is the same, except when scoped in becomes a 4 shot hand cannon.
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Just imagine him six months from now. Or anyone who takes the time to master the DMR. I feel bad for the BR users. It’s basically an aim assist crutch.

Every weapon in this game has aim assist. The DMR just has less. People that are good with it can take advantage of it and get pretty quick kills on noobs who don’t strafe but I bet the BR has the advantage in a head to hear battle.
Good players might miss maybe 1 shot with the DMR in close to medium range, and even with missing 1 shot the DMR still kills quicker than the BR, so tell me how the BR player will win? Any way what is the point of the BR in the first place, the Light rifle is just a better weapon overall.
