Killstreaks to support New or Weaker Players

Halo is a thinking mans game, that requires true skill and the use of strategy to be good at it. If you get caught off guard, you can still fight your way out of a tight spot. Thats what makes it exciting.

However, I do believe the pros and pro teams are somewhat destroying the Halo series for the casual gamer.

I am still competitive, even though I only play casually, however, I totally understand why a new player to the series may walk away from the series, when the skill level of existing players is so high.

The mates I played H2 system link, and H3 multilpayer with did not adapt to the increased skill level required to be competitive, and thus have switched to the COD series, where the gameplay is more 1 or 2 shot kill stuff, surprise/ reflex killing, and/or camping waiting for the runners to come by.

For any game series to survive over time there has to be encouragement for winning players to support the weaker members of the team, to give those new or poorer players a sense of worth. Who wants to be flogged relentlessly game after game?

My concept: Integrate a system where skilled players are required to support weaker players through a killstreaks rewards gifting system.

Anyone think maybe a killstreak system, where winning players ‘gift’ to new/ poorer players, maybe things like air support roles like chopper gunner etc or maybe ability boosting options like body armour/ overshield/ invisibility type items or maybe a power weapon drop like sniper, shottie or rockets?

In a real combat situation, concepts like never leave a man behind etc are the norm, so why in FPS gaming is it that little regard is given to these weaker players?

At the end of the day it should be about fun, encouraging MORE players to get involved, and trying to improve, and being given a chance to improve whilst having fun. Supporting your fellow competitor is what team games should be about.

In a circle of friends, all player experiences should be at the very least satifying, no matter what skill level you are.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want the skill set dumbed down or changed in any way, but merely a system that gives new or players a small boost or advantage, gifted down from those players who know and play the game well. This will encourage a more social experience between all players.

PS if microsoft want to send me a 1 million USD cheque for this concept, contact me through my gamertag lol!

PPS IMO Team games should NOT ALL BE about pros studying the maps back to front and mic’ing to each other which way the noob is running !!

The day kill streaks are in a Halo game, is the day Halo isn’t “Halo.”

If you’re better at the game, you’re better at the game. It’s as simple as that. Don’t forget that everyone was new to Halo once.

The exit door is that way…>

NO!!!

Killstreaks don’t reward the bad player. They reward the players who are already roflstomping. If you love getting spawn trapped in BTB, i can see why you would want this.

If you are good at the game, you are good. Victory is your reward, not kill streaks

If you suck at the game, you suck. You will most likely lose more games but you don’t need death streaks as that rewards a player for doing badly.

The better man wins, the lesser man rage quits.

That is Halo in terms of killing each other. So no OP, terrible idea. Your trolling is not even remotely humorous.

I think you’re trolling. No offense, but this sounds like a terrible idea. Best way to help out the noobs is to keep em alive by killing all of those attacking him/her.

No, we just need a good skill-based ranking system so players can get matched with players of their skill accordingly. And dont worry, 343 is definitely catering to noobs with Halo 4 from the looks of it.

Yeah, I always here that as a criticism yet it’s always the same people who were good at previous Halos still being good in the next one.

Deathstreaks would be a big maybe just to increase the fun of the roflstompee not to provide a route to a comeback. But that seems a tricky balance, so I would err on the “no” side. Killstreaks can stay in action sack (go go hot shot) .

how about help out new players by adding a skill based ranking system?

> how about help out new players by adding a skill based ranking system?

As long as it’s not based on Halo 3’s, sure.

no.
you live and you learn. you improve by losing and gaining experience fighting better players. Once you have it down, there it is. Halo is simple, and is rather easy for new players to pick up and learn quickly. This means they can improve their game much faster than other titles/

That can be said for every game franchise, for example the best 1.6 players were still some of the best CSS players. Its just a fact that 343 is catering to noobs with H4, they even said they were “decreasing the knowledge gap between veteran players and noob players” which is by definition catering to noobs. Hopefully they cater to experienced players as well maybe in the form of a skill-based ranking system without BS gimmicks?

Thus far every ranking system in every Halo game has been flawed. You might be asking for the impossible.

NO,NO,NO,NO!!!

Halo does not need killstreaks that would be a silly addition to the franchise. I’m cool with AA’s as long as they are balanced as much as possible and I’m really cool with custom classes as that means no AR starts ever again unless I want to. But killstreaks are crossing a line. If players want to become better, just take your time and learn the game and how it works and flows, and if you suck for awhile, that’s fine. And if they want help try playing with friends.

Specializations just barely squeezed by for me; same with weapon skins.

I disagree that it is easier than other titles to play well. It takes many many games to develop successful techniques to stay alive in battle; maybe not on release day when there are more new players, but certainly a year or 2 on from that when it seems to me to be only hardcore halo players who have competed online in many of the halo series games.

Hell No! No one wants Halo to be like a Michael Bay movie (Explosions!). That’s what made CoD irritating for me. Killstreaks stay the hell away from Halo.

Halo is about balance. If you ruin that all of the good players will leave the game and then the suckier people will still leave, simply because they will still suck…

Besides, getting a killstreak reward doesn’t help you get better by giving you an advantage. The best thing for people who aren’t confident in their gaming abilities to do is actually work to get better-maybe actually try to learn how to aim instead of spray and pray, or use explosive weopons 80% of the time.
