Kills-deaths top player vs Most kills top player.

Just a topic to think about not super important…

In an arena match particularly swat I think the score leader at the end of the match should be Kills minus Deaths.
I know that its first to 50 wins but I think Someone who gets 10 kills and dies 2 times is a better team mate then someone who gets 20 and dies 18.
It’s just a little annoying to me nothing too serious but I would like to see the top player of each team be the one with the best Kill Death differential.
so 10-5=5 is better than 15-14=1. There could also be something done with assists maybe have them be worth half a point and add it at the end.
The trouble with an assist is did you get a kill stolen from you, or did you fail at stealing a kill? Even though most of the time no one is doing that on purpose its just how it goes.
Anyway, Not the biggest deal but I am curious as to what people think about that.

Depends on your role on your team. A differential ratio being the metric you use to determine who is “best” will simply encourage extremely slow-paced, selfish, campfest gameplay.
I could play in a fashion every game where I’ll go like 10-3, but I won’t be supporting my teammates with team shooting, baiting, spawn trapping, etc.

I agree the point is 100% for the team to win. If you are actually playing with a team and everyone has their mics on and roles are discussed then yeah everyone has a job to do.
I wish I encountered that more often. Generally speaking though in my experience most matches Ive been in ended in a win when 3/4 of us went 10-2 or 13-4 etc.
Also I think someone playing a slow focused type of play is complimentary to an aggressive fast attack. All things considered I still think dying less is just as important or more important than killing more in 4v4.

Also im not suggesting camping even though it doesn’t bother me when i play against someone who is.

This is sort of what Halo 4 did for their scoreboards. It was by score. You could have less kills than the guy with most kills but a bunch of assists and be on top due to those points

In a ranked playlist, I don’t look at it as first to 50 wins. The team with the fewest deaths wins, even if you have to let the time run out. It might be boring, but camping is a legitimate strategy. Theoretically, player 1 could go 20-30. Players 2, 3, and 4 could go 10-5. Your team would win 50-45, but player 1 would be the top player. The player with the most kills is not always the best player.

Couldn’t agree more.

Anyone that plays slayer and says that the guy with 20 kills and 18 deaths did better than the guy with 10 kills and 2 deaths is delusional. Slayer is won by k/d. People think, “Oh if I get a lot of kills as soon as possible than we can get more kills than the other team” That’s a terrible mentality because that same person contributed 18 points to the other team. 18 deaths is almost halfway to winning a slayer match and that is all from one person. If each person on your team has that same mentality then you will simply get stomped every game. If everyone plays more careful and everyone on your team goes something like 11-12/3 then your team barely contributed to the enemies score. The person with the better K/d in slayer is the better player.

Slayer is a game of controlling the enemies teams movements and spawns AND staying alive as long as possible, so in a way it is whichever team is the better camper essentially. Yeah you may contribute the most to your score in slayer but if you are contributing the most to the enemy than you are not good and you only add more pressure to your team to not die either.

It’s different in CTF or assault where these game types require you to play aggressive to secure objectives etc.

If you are ahead in slayer then why would you make risky plays by moving so much around the map and get yourself cut off from the support of your team? All you need to do is watch a few games of pro teams and you will see that they try to set up positions for each player in such a way that another person can go support another when needed.

Hope this got my point across.

Well now that everyone seems to agree with that point why is it set up the way it is?

When you’re a monster, it won’t matter because you’ll have the most kills and least deaths. You can even have the most assists on top of that. I try to go 20’s with deaths as close to 5 as possible every time

Please don’t revive old topics, thanks, especially ones that are nearly 2 years old
