I’m kind of new to Ranked arena games; I mostly play social in Arena. In Social, my weapons don’t affect my team members. I know because I’ve mistaking shot at them many times, thrown grenades at them and stuck them with plasma from plasma caster.
Just recently, when I played ranked slayer. I was shot to pieces, and as usual, as my spirit is floating away, I like to look around to see who killed me. I was Blue, and when I looked around, I couldn’t see any Reds, just Blue. So, the thought on my mind was what were my team members doing when I was been shredded to pieces?
Not long after, I felt bullets searing through my armour, I looked around, no Reds, just a fellow Blue shooting in my direction. I looked round to see who they were shooting at and saw no one, I moved towards a corner, with the wall at my back. To my horror, this fellow blue spartan stood in my face and emptied their assault rifle into my chest!
In Ranked Arena, can your fellow teammate shoot and kill you?
And if yes, why or what reason would a teammate have in killing you? Does murdering fellow team members help in increasing their ranking?

Teammates can betray you in ranked Arena, as you’ve found out. And no it does not rank you up either. There is no reason to do it
You’ve probably come across a bad teammate. It happens. People who might get mad or just aren’t playing serious. Who knows why.
Betrayal has been a part of Halo since the beginning. Just that extra element of skill and coordination to watch out for you teammates positions as well as the other team.

That’s interesting!
So, just to be clear, betrayal exists in every mode such that:
in Warzone FF, I can splatter fellow spartans with a vehicle, but my weapons have no effect on them - friendly fire is disabled while vehicular splatter is enabled.
In social Arena friendly fire is also disabled
and in Ranked arena, friendly fire is enabled

The only playlist that friendly fire is disabled is fiesta. This is due to all the explosive weapons and chaos. It would be constant betrayals.

Yes, that’s exactly right.
Some special modes within social arena may not have weapon damage to teammates but majority will
With it being a ranked game, your teammates shouldn’t be aiming for you at all, rather teaming up and helping you to win.
To me, it seems you may have stumbled across some Halo trolls which are hard to avoid sometimes, especially in a ranked game. Sometimes you just have to ride the wave and hope it doesn’t happen again for a while.
Reporting them or blocking them on Xbox also works for people like this, then not matching them again

we were already losing, and there was no hope of winning. so perhaps it was transfer of aggression.
Unfortunately, i was too shocked to take note of who was shooting me, so I can’t report them.
