Killfeed

Do you guys want the killfeed to show every kill by every player, like in other shooters? It doesn’t have to be like Call of Duty, where it shows the gun, but at least have something like Player A killed Player B (with a headshot, with grenades), and have the player names in their team color. This way, you can see how you team is doing, and which players are doing better or worse than others. You can also know which enemy to beware of, or go after them and end their sprees.

To be honest the color coded style is better. Color coded so you don’t have to press the back button to figure out who is on your team, etc. Pictures are always faster than reading too.

As long as it isn’t like Reach’s (that covers the aim reticle) then i’m fine with whatever.

(Mainly for split-screen players, although it can happen to single player as well).

The only thing I want from the killfeed is who killed who. Colours are irrelevant, and telling me if someone was killed with by snipe would be appreciated.

When does this ever happen? What kind of tv’s do people have? I have a 15 year old small tv and the killfeed never even goes pas my motion sensor…

The killfeed appears over or under my reticle (I can’t remember) and is very distracting. I use a big old school SD TV.

I sometimes play at my mom’s home and she also has a huge old square tv, but it still doesn’t go past my motion sensor. :stuck_out_tongue:

No we dont need more -Yoink- covering the screen. we already have 100 weapons we ae forced to look at then theres the YOU KILLED HIM, YOU HAVE THE FLAG, YOU GOT A SWORD KILL, YOU GOT A PLASMA KILL

I think enemy players’ names should be coloured in a darker red, but in such a way that it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb, keeping the general tone and palette of the current killfeed version.

Why not just something like the following:

Player A [weapon] Player B

I think this is a huge issue in the current Halo games. It’s hard to tell who is on my team and not based off the kill feed (especially if i’m playing with randoms).

I don’t see why this wouldn’t be added to Halo 4.

Reach’s system was awful. There’s no need to know that he killed him “with a headshot”. No need. Keep it simple: Player A killed Player B. Color-coding should not be an issue.

And yes, in Reach, the words commonly covered the reticle. While I only noticed it a few times in Single-player, it was a persistent problem in 2-, 3-, and 4-player games. It was one of the reasons why I hated the game, since I couldn’t play it with multiple people on the same TV.

It kinda was colour coded in Halo 3 / Reach. If it was an enemy getting the kill, it faded in red to blue, if it was a friendly, green to blue, why Halo 4 is abandoning that entirely and making it just static text is beyond me.

This happened if something like “(gamertag with 10-15 characters) killed (gamertag with 10-15 characters) with a headshot”, on a small SD / Small Non-widescreen resolution display, or you were playing 2-4 player splitscreen. Unless you’re in a wide screen resolution, it sometimes makes SWAT unplayable.

OT, I’ll admit, seeing the words “Player A sniped Player B” changed to just “Killed”, same for assassinations, is kinda saddening to me.

What are you talking about? It does not change any color. And even if it did fade out a different color, that is just horrible design. Who’s going to look at the killfeed that long?

I feel that it shouldn’t show the weapon, since Halo is more of a arena shooter where everything is supposedly equal, so you don’t want people to know what weapon you have, like if you get the one shotgun, you don’t want everyone to know.

I would prefer a little more detail like Player A no scoped Player B and the Player A is on a killing spree.

This. The first thing I noticed from the first actual gameplay video was that the killfeed was subtle enough to not get in the way.

I’m so used to also playing CoD that the other stuff like “Headshot” and all that jazz doesn’t bother me at all.

This idea seems like it’s too busy for the screen, in my opinion.

Maybe if we can adjust how much detail is put into the killfeed would be much better, and would please more than one audience.

It didn’t fade out a certain colour it faded IN!
If your team got a kill, it would fade IN from green to blue, vice versa for the enemy team getting a kill.

Or you could just keep everything the same. But yes knowing who has died is very important.
