Killfeed

This may be very nitpicky but I am not a huge fan of the new kill feed which honestly I’ll straight up say it is cod. It’s true. I personally do not like it, is thus really necessary? Like I feel they are changing things now just for the sake of changing things for example, usually you see …killed… Or you killed… Or …killed by, but now its straight up the weapon you killed em with. This could seriously take away some elements of surprise because if you say for example your teammate gets killed in a room by a rocket guy ,the other team will automatically know not to go in there since the Rocket launcher was in the kill feed. No not in Halo I’m sorry but just no, I’m sure someone agrees with me

Oh boy.

So many old games have it. Even Unreal Tournament if I’m not mistaken.

You’re not being nitpicky at all. It eliminates another little bit of the guesswork players had to do in matches. Almost nothing left.

Well then good for them. Sorry, but ^this^ reasoning is not only weak, it’s also being used to excuse everything.

I really like it, think its a pretty cool feature, looks really good.
It may take a tiny bit of guess work out, but you have to admit it would look pretty badass to notice the same weapon pop up 4 times simultaneously when sombody gets an extermination or somthing.

Was this in the beta? I didn’t even notice if it was, so if it was I still apparently used guesswork. I don’t think it really matters all that much, I will be listening to and giving call outs anyways not paying attention to that little message, never really paid attention to the message in previous games either. I was more concerned with playing the game and focusing on that. When I think about it, if a person did pay attention and lets say “so so” got a kill with a rocket you still have the guesswork of where and to which person they killed, but by the time you process that your teammates will have already told you (if you bother playing as a team) anyways. It’s not like the game is saying BkSkrubbkins was killed by a rocket in <insert call out here>.

is this seriously an issue?

i’m pretty sure if your teammate got killed by a rocket the enemy team have the rockets and can go in that room all they want…

also, you have time to read a kill feed? hell i don’t even remember what part of the screen the current kill feed comes up on half the time and i’ve been playing halo since it was new. this makes no difference to me. and if you plan on being truly competitive in halo you will need teamwork regardless so if your team aren’t talking to you you still have a chance of knowing things, but if your team do talk then not knowing something won’t be an issue and the kill feed becomes irrelevant

I agree with you but not your point. This is not just a CoD thing. This form of kill feed has been in hundreds of shooters from Indies to AAA.

How I do agree though is that I like the witty kill feed as great comic relief in multiplayer.

I can’t believe this is an issue. I seriously can’t believe that this forum has complained about Grunt Eyes, Rear Warthog axels, the space between a spartans legs, shield sounds, and now this.

The kill feed has been in Halo for a long time, and it’s in pretty much every game. They took away the kill medal and assist medal, they took away the +10 points score that shows up, now you want them to take away the kill feed?

Listen buddy, if your friends get killed by the rocket launcher, you’re probably going to hear them say they got killed by the rocket launcher, or you’ll hear the rocket launcher shoot and the explosion, or you’ll see it on the kill feed. Also, if you hear that “Rocket Launcher is up in 30 seconds”, then 30 seconds later the weapon icon disappears and then 30 seconds later, you hear a big explosion, you should probably be cautious when heading towards the area with the rocket launcher.

We can play Halo theory all day coming up with a million scenarios where things will or will not work, but the best way to figure it out is to play the game.

Not nearly as weak as saying something resembles CoD as a reason to exclude everything.
