Which Halo game first said “Killed by the Guardians” when you had an unexplained death in multiplayer? Was that CE? 2? 3? So, I just realized the connection between that and this game. Duh. Haha. Sorry if I’m late to noticing this. I haven’t read any novels or anything like that. Just played the games. That is all.
I certainly remember it in Halo 2, not sure about CE.
What I can remember is that the “Killed by the Guardians” was relatively rare. Seemed like it was more when you were killed by the map or a flying object?
In H5 it just awards the kill to a random player
It was Halo 2 where it first showed up, but it was a coincidence that the name Guardians was chosen. The idea of the galaxy-policing mega machines did not exist back in 2004.
It originated in CE, but was much more rare because none of the maps had moving parts. It pretty much resulted from glitches or instances where the game couldn’t link a death to another player.
I’m told you can test it by firing a long range rocket at somebody, and exiting the game before it impacts. That player will get a “killed by the guardians” message because it can’t link the death to a non-present player.
Also, if you can manage to get two players in CE to kill each other with melees simultaneously, one of them will get a “killed by the guardians” message.

That was mentioned to who I believe was Frank O’ Connor and he said that the guardians in halo 5 are the same ones that killed you in every other halo game.

A. Halo Wars was released after Halo 3, “killed by guardians” were in CE which was 6+ years before Wars
B. Halo Wars is an RTS so in no way, shape or form can you compare it to the other games. Halo Wars is the best Halo RTS and thats because its the only one, but it is no way on earth the best Halo
