Anyone know exactly what counts towards this? I would think any kill while in any ground vehicle, yet last night me and my brother were working on a few commendations to finish up level 3 and despite many kills from a warthog it only went up by one. Is there a glitch where they sometimes don’t count or is there something more specific to be done to get it?

No, there is a separate company commendation for splatter, this one is titled kill enemy Spartan with ground vehicle. The one called Road Trip.
Ground vehicle kills means that the vehicle is the cause of death like when you see a ghost, scorpion, wraith in the kill feed I dont know if the warthog gun counts because its like the wraith turret where it shows up as a turret on the feed, my tip use ghosts or have you or your friend in a tank and the other with advanced sensors and a shotgun and br/dmr on the tank to keep off high jackers
