Hi fellow Spartans! This is my first community post.
This is sort of a newbie question, but it there a way to reset the Kill to Death ratio on your profile?
Now I’m not a mathematician, but I’m pretty sure if you do really bad when you just start playing and die a lot, there’s almost no way to get a higher percentage, even if your skill level has increase dramatically.
I would kind of just like a do-over and start again.
Thanks to everyone who answers, bye.
There is no way to reset it short of creating a new profile and starting over; however, your ratio will naturally get better over time if you do well consistently
Edit: I’m not sure which game you are referencing, but on H5 and MCC you have played less than 20 matches on each. If you are consistently playing better, it will not take long at all to improve your ratio
I’m pretty much screwed up K/D ratio on MCC with 0.912, sad times. Infinite is a time to improve!
I don’t think Halo (MCC at least) is the one to worry about K/D ratio…to wide a skill pool and a variety of games (Halo 1/2/3/4/etc…). Wouldn’t feel down about it. I’m sure .912 is better than most halo players anyways lol
I don’t think you can reset the ratio. If you are worried about your ratio, don’t be. Your KD says nothing about the kind of player you really are, honestly the only place I’ve heard people talk about KD is when they are bragging about having a ratio over 2
I wouldn’t worry to much about your K/D. Just play have fun and if you doo well and are good it will show in your game stats and the K/D will improve over time. Enjoy
Only way to reset is to start a new profile.
“Managing” your K-D ratio, or trying to push it in one direction or another, sorta depends which games you like to play, and within those games, which game types. For example, in Halo 5, if you play a ton of the Ranked game types, you’re going to going up against people who take the game more seriously, and game styles where kills are harder to come by (default weapons, etc.), so even getting an even K-D ratio may be a great accomplishment!
But if you instead play a lot of Super Fiesta games (especially Husky Raid, which is my personal favorite), you’ll end up with power weapons, sometimes really, really nice power weapons (The Answer, Tartus’ Gavel, etc.) and players concentrated on small maps, making it way easier to really rack up a lot of kills. I play Super Fiesta a ton because it’s fun to try and collect some of the kill medals (Killtrocity, Killimanjaro, etc.) that otherwise would be really hard for me in normal play.
…or as others have said: Don’t worry about it, and have fun. A kill ratio of -3.5 or a kill ratio of +3.5 says nothing about how much you enjoy the game.
Like other people said about having fun, the K/D ratio shouldn’t be a concern for you if you want to have fun in the games. But if you’re concerned about them, the only way to fix up your ratios is just play more and try to improve your skill so you can avoid death more and get kills more. It takes time. I would recommend just playing casual multiplayer. Infection is the easiest way to improve your K/D as survivor in my experience.
Regardless, don’t make K/D ratio your burden.
Thank you everyone for the words of advice! You are all so kind.
To my knowledge, there’s no means of resetting your KDR. I wish that Halo used a system that used a rolling average of your past 30-50 games K/D instead of the entire lifetime of your GT in the given game, as I think that would allow for more “accurate” reflections of current player skill as people warm up and start getting good at the game.
As others have said, it’s true that your KDR will gradually improve with your skill level. That said, it’s much easier to D than K, so to speak, especially when you’re new to a game or just coming back to playing PvP after a long break (I’m in the second camp myself right now). Because of this, even as an “average-good” player, you can dig a hole much more quickly than you can make up for it. A rolling average would make me a lot more comfortable putting in the time and “taking my licks” so to say, knowing that even if I’m performing at a low level currently, I’m not dooming myself to play at a consistently 3+ KDR level for X amt of games just to dig myself out of a rut.
End of the day, K/D is something I try not to think about too much when playing. I’d like it better and would feel it was more accurate at determining a player’s current skill if it were a revised system as stated above, but even then, K/D is just stressful if you spend too much time fretting over it and takes a lot of fun out of playing the game. My best performances tend to be in games that I deliberately don’t think about preserving/padding my K/D. I also have a lot more fun playing when I’m not stressing over it.
And, before anyone feels the need to rub my nose in it, my K/D isn’t phenomenal (probably low end of average TBCH), so make of that what you will when evaluating my opinion on the subject.
