In Halo: Reach, when you do 80% of the work on a kill, a medal pops up which says “assist”. This is obviously a bug in the system because if you do 80% of the work on something and someone does the other 20%, they are essentially taking credit when you did the majority of the work, therefore the credit you would have got for your work has been stolen.
An assist should be somewhere around 30-40% and a killstolen should be the 80% they currently have this assist medal set at.
How is it a glitch? Whoever kills the player gets the kill, thats that. Even if you do 99% of the damage and your teammate finishes him off he will get the kill, it was always like that.
when people purposely let you lower his shield and then swipes the kill example some one melees the opponent then a third guy throws a grenade killing you both and he does not get a betrayal(cause the other guy hit you ) and gets a kill is what he is an example
> it needs to be fixed because when people purposely let you lower his shield and then swipes the kill is not right example some one melees the opponent then a third guy throws a grenade killing you both and he does not get a betrayal(cause the other guy hit you ) and gets a kill is an issue
If you made this game, how would you fix it? And why? It’s called teamwork, you’re just greedy and wanna get all the kills.

Sorry, but it needs to be said. It took me about 3 minutes to try and comprehend what you were trying to say.
Anyways; it’s not a glitch, it’s how the game works. If you punch a guy, and a teammate shoots him dead, guess what? The teammate gets the kill because he is the one who did the killing. You assisted.

343i can’t change how people behave. If someone stole your kill, then you just move on. It’s not the end of the world yet but it will be in Halo 6.

In previous games, you didn’t have to do 80% of the work just to get an assist. If you did a small portion of the work, you got an assist, which is how it should be. In Reach you don’t even get an assist unless you do 80%, which is a very significant portion, which at that point is usually like 1 or 2 bullets. Add in the fact that Reach’s main weapons are single shot based, and it means if someone else shoots off one more bullet than you do for the kill, they get it even though you did a majority of the work.

the only way to fix that is to remove friendly fire. Halo has had friendly fire since the first game. A subtle change like this would bring about many hate threads posting about how stupid no friendly fire would be. Halo is awesome with friendly fire in it as it takes more skill to fire around your teammates to get the kill rather than firing through them to get the kill. Cough… Cough COD is bad for this as you can stand behind a teammate and shoot and still get the kills as bullets magically pass through him to keep on killing the opposing team.

No, you weren’t? You were talking about team games too?
News flash. In a team game, there’s only ONE way to steal a kill, and that’s by yoinking on purpose, which every now and then, happens. And if you do 99% of the damage to someone and they run for cover and live, did you kill them? No you didn’t, just like when someone else on your team cleans up a kill for you. You get the assist, they get the kill. And in Reach, as far as whatever ranking system existed, both were weighted exactly the same.
It sounds like team based games aren’t for you. Maybe you should stay in FFA. At least that way you know what you’re getting and “kill stealing” is a way of life.
I don’t mind people stealing my kills, but I think the requirement to get an assist should be lowered… it’s annoying how you must basically do 80% dmg to a guy in order to obtain an assist medal
I’m okay with the assist system as is, but I hate when a teammate fires/throws a rocket, grenade, FRG, etc. when I’m in the general area shooting opposing team members. Where, due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, the person on the opposite team gets a kill out of my death when he did not cause it. That’s what I consider to be a problem.
