I was planning along an enclosed slayer level and had just re spawned and was coming around the corner to rejoin my teammates, as i did a fellow teammate was in a battle with the opposing team, i had my magnum out and popped a shot in his head getting the kill. The teammate who engaged the enemy first went irritate and began shooting at me, using profane language that i STOLE HIS KILL, i didn’t think anything except a yo-ink on an assassination would be considered a kill steal. If the objective of slayer is for your team to win, then what does it matter who gets the kill or the assist, its all points for your team, and perhaps my popping off that head shot saved a kill for the opposing team, which i think is as important as the kill itself.
My other question was what you(as the player) and as the opponent think of player rep, and things that affect that. I by no means am a good player, but i really enjoy playing, if im horrible mismatched to my teammates or the opposing team i finish the game and restart a search to hopefully find a better match up. So do players leave negative rep comments because your skill isn’t very good or does it have to be more of a sever type of flaw in your game play? I’m up to 75% avoided, which is pretty high i think, and i know im not very good, but i don’t talk much, never taunting opposing players with tea bagging, and never use profane language i don’t get how Ive come into this situation, i figured if another player just got done whipping me why would they leave negative feedback? I understand the frustration that people might feel sometimes, but something all should consider is at some point everybody was new and not that great, making mistakes and dying alot, its how the game is, we all have to start somewhere.
Player rep doesn’t matter at all. Ever play call of duty people will leave negative feedback on you for beating them. If you look at my rep I’m a terrible person…

The Rep system is literally broken, or just unfinished, and it has been so for at least the past year.
First of all, the screen says that you were preferred or not rated by 25% of players. That is false. You were preferred by 25% of the people you encountered; not rating someone will have no effect on their percentages. For that reason alone, neither percentage is accurate.
Second of all, people almost never leave positive feedback. They’re all too happy to leave negative feedback for the wrong reasons, though. People get butthurt on Xbox LIVE and tend to react to being beaten in a match by leaving negative feedback – claiming that a no-mic had a “Disruptive Voice”, or claiming that someone who finished the match “Quit Early”.
Third of all, preferring a player will not increase the chances of encountering them, and avoiding a player will not actually avoid them at all.
The Rep system is not only completely broken, but also completely abused. Only you can see your own Rep, and it doesn’t appear to have any effect on anything… Basically, don’t worry about it, mate.
Pfft David, the rep system TOTALLY works! I mean, my friend NEVER has her mic in and yet she’s got like 60-something percent avoidance for trash talking!
That was sarcastic. The rep system is totally not work stressing over.
As far as “kill stealing,” to me a kill’s a kill for the team. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way.

If you ever yoink me after i saved you from the guy, im gonna betray your -Yoink-
I appreciate the replays, it was a really surprise to me get that level that quick, i guess i was a little shocked but considering the little amount of actual game play it affects i shouldn’t really worry.

I try not to Yoink people…except on special occasions. Like my random is reallyreally bad… O:)

I do it to my friends. We will die to try and do that to each other.
Kill stealing (the perceived problem with it) is a load of BS. I don’t care if someone gets all their kills in a match by killing the guy I’m engaged with, as long as we win. Like you said, it’s a kill for your team and denies a kill to the enemy team. Kill stealing is one of the pussiest things someone could complain about.
Rep doesn’t matter so much to me, although last time I checked, I had a higher percentage for being avoided than preferred. 100% of the reason for people avoiding me was for language issues. I play with a mic, but I only talk when spoken to, and I never trash-talk (I’m in a clan which does not condone it). So it just shows me that the majority of XBL players are petty little -Yoinks!- who can’t stand losing.
As for submitting rep feedback based on a player being bad, I have done that before–but only in extreme cases. There’s people who have just started playing Halo and can be forgiven for having a negative K/D, and then there’s people who clearly have no idea what’s going on, which is who I give negative feedback to. I’m talking about driving vehicles off cliffs, flying the Falcon with no gunners, throwing grenades into walls and killing themselves/teammates, using the assault rifle to shoot someone at DMR range…
When a player has gone out of their way to be a YOINK!, then I will give a negative review and when people send me freind request, I look at their rep as part of if I accept or send a FR.
If they end up getting a few kills that I started, its not a big deal, its a team sport, however betrayal for weapons or sheild pops and that kinda nonsense deserves a negative reveiw and an avoid player selection.

I do this too. If they’re the kind of person to play that way, chances are they also take their rep seriously and maybe I made them rage a little bit.
I also played a match once with two friends, and one of their friends. I already didn’t like him within five minutes: he had a mic, but refused to speak when spoken to. He’d only tap it (once for yes, twice for no). I got a few kill-steals on him, when all of a sudden I got a message from him mid-game. I waited until after to read it–yes, to read it, because he typed it out rather than give me the dignity of actually speaking to me. It said “Plz stp jackin all my kllz thx.” Seriously? We won, dude, stop complaining. Also get down from your high horse up on that ivory tower and open your mouth to communicate with your teammates.
Is it possible he’s physically unable to speak? I doubt it, because I never heard any explanation for his muteness other than our mutual friend, who only said “he doesn’t talk.”

Kill Stealing is the product of playing too much Free For All. In a team environment, if your teammate helped you put down an enemy, it doesn’t matter who got the kill, the point is that you two TOGETHER, with TEAMWORK toppled the enemy player. You’d be surprised how many people will rage at me for kill stealing, even though when I joined the fight they were down 2-3 shots. I saved their lives, and they hate me because I hit the last shot.

Isn’t that the truth…You mop up a game against a team, and all of them report you, in some manner, because they can…Broken System, is Broken.
lol player reps. Don’t worry about it too much; those that rate down are players you wouldn’t want to match up again anyways. Good riddance i say.
People are often too buthurt to accept losing and incorrectly use the system to that end to make themselves feel better. It doesn’t really affect you and i’ve been playing xbox for quite some time and i haven’t run into any trouble with the rep system.
As far as I can see avoiding a player doesn’t affect your chance of playing with them again, on many games like Halo, CoD, GoW 3 Beta, I was still matching up with the same players that I had avoided more than once.
Just ignore it, once you hit those 5 stars on your profile, rep becomes pointless.
Yeah man rep system for it to be correct would mean every single person you have ever encountered would have left feedback and that is just not the case. And about that guy you did not steal his kill it was not guaranteed his unless he was assassinating he was just a bad player i have gotten cussed out before when i got a protector saying how i am a noob and a vulture. Don’t let it get to you OP YOUR the better player not him. even if your not the best as long as your fair and having fun that is all that matters.
