Kill Issues - Do I suck

Hey all
Not sure if this is just a connection issue, or maybe just me. I am definitely not a hard out Halo player, only got the first two, and have now tried Halo 5. But I have played a lot of Titanfall and usually do pretty well.

But, I am NOT enjoying Halo 5 at all for the following reasons.
Why is it, that I can be behind someone, shoot them multiple times and then they turn around, shoot me once or so & I’m dead? Also, I can melee someone, they don’t die, then they melee me & I die straight away? I’ve even have the same thing with the dash charge. I’ll dash charge someone & they bounce off, still alive, then they either shoot me once or melee me & I’m dead again?

This also has happened with the Ghost. I’ve shot a guy HEAPS while in one and he just keeps going, I can see I am actually hitting him as his shield does that glow thing. But if I’m out in the field and get hit, I usually die within the first couple of hits??

It is ruining my experience as I feel I am dying very easily and everyone else seems bulletproof? I end up turning off very frustrated, and playing Titanfall.

I live in New Zealand, so could it be a connection issue? Am I just sucky?

Halo 5 has a huge learning curve and takes time to adapt even with the seasoned players

Maybe connection.

Also Halo has always been a recovery game. Just because you get the drop doesn’t mean you automatically win which is kind of a trademark of Halo and I like it. Best accuracy and aimed head shot can pull the reversal medal. Also not a lot of cases where you can get one shot melee so you either got touched up with fire you didn’t realize you were taking or you got a splash of an automatic weapon immediately after. Also if you dash charge there is a possibility they are countering with a melee or a dash/charge of their own then that little sprinkle of ammo will kill you right after.

Or this. Some Halo 4 players with 1.5 to 1.8 K/D’s sank to the .50 to .75 that 1st week of H5.

I am a seasoned Halo player - I know the difference between when someone is just better than me. I can also tell when I’m getting crossed fired on and get taken down. I also can tell when I’m in a 1 on 1 CQC situation and unload full clips way ahead of the other player and they turn on me and 2 shot me. That is a game design issue. I think what is happening is that matchmaking is not preferring regionally. I’m getting connected quickly so time between matches is short. But there are a lot of foreign accents in chat. WHY DON’T WE HAVE CONNECTION METERS AND CHOICES OF SERVERS TO CONNECT TO?? I did not have these types of issues in Titan Fall.

@ OP - welcome to the Halo world of lag and latency. Its the game not you.

I think it is safe to assume that its connection related. I remember when Halo 4 came out and alot of aussie guys got upset because the game kept matchmaking them to American hosts. Not sure how matchmaking works but it seems nowadays matchmaking is pretty unreliable.

This. I am getting foreign accents where they complain in game about the EU servers. Tell you something ?

Halo 5 is a lot harder than previous iterations I think. My K/D in Reach was 1.3 don’t know about 4 but I usually go positive. In 5 it’s.98. Aiming is harder too, finding out I have a 50% hit rate was a slap in the face. You’re not alone in the struggle, and I’ve been playing this game for 13 years haha. Just keep trying and you’ll get there!

Hey man,
I too had trouble with aiming in my first 7-8ish days of playing H5. The only way to improve is to keep playing a lot, and try different tactics. Some strafe left and right whilst shooting, some crouch while they strafe, and some jump while shooting. It’s what works best for you.

They changed the aiming mechanics, so that might be another thing.

As for the ghost, well…
In my honest opinion, the Ghost is a tad overpowered, but only the regular Ghost. The other ones are ment to be more powerfull.

Just keep playing Slayer and Warzone. Practice on AI’s in WZ helps too.

I hope it works out for ya’!

There is a small glitch were you can get rewarded for your team mates kill but compared to the number of kills you do get it’s a very small percentage.

Combo internet connection and lack of knowing the game on your part.

In other fps who gets first shot and lands most shots wins
In Halo who has the right gun for the distance and lands the "shots to kill "first.

Generaly speaking
If it shoots a lot, the shots are weak, close range only
If it shoots slow, shots strong, medium to long range

The Assault rifle takes “a million shots” to kill and shoots fast you can hold the trigger
The Battle rifle takes 4 shots to kill but shoots only when you pull the trigger

I get more assists than I do kills and its doing me head in.
