Kill Effect - Intrusive & Obnoxious

Getting an overkill in koth makes it sound like a whole pack howling at the moon. It’s pretty hilarious.

Also, when do we get grunt birthday party? I’m looking forward to spraying confetti all over people’s screens!

Edit: Also, just to be clear, I do think you should have the option not to see/hear other players’ kill effects on your screen.

It’s kind of like a monetized form of t-bagging - a way to annoy your opponent after a kill.

T-bagging is obviously much more intentional and irritating.

I definitely want to see this

Exactly how I feel about it. Monetized taunting. I wish I could buy a Hologram teabagging the dead person’s screen as a kill effect

I find them quite distracting. I like immersed gameplay and these take me out of it. An option to disable them would be nice.

I already noticed I barely hear the wolf call, I have AI voice at 5.

I was just thinking we could have something like that. Or a cheesy Cortana/Weapon clap & dance on top of the fallen Spartan (if you’ve played the campaign you’ll know).

Maybe Infinite needs to lean into becoming a carnival of sorts.

While I love the kill effects themselves, I do find the sounds a bit annoying. I hated the grunt birthday party sound so much I immediately turned it off shortly after trying it. Having said that, I doubt they’ll allow for these effects to be turned off. I mean wouldn’t that defeat the point of selling them to people who want to hear those sounds?

Speaking of grunt birthday party maybe it would be better if the effects were only for headshots.

They wouldn’t know which player has them turned off, if only a minority of players find them disagreeable enough to disable them.

Lmao people like you are the reason I love having them on.

I don’t care about the kill effects but someone in my group really hated the Skull, haven’t played with him since I got the Wolf kill effect. We’ll see how he likes that lol.

This doesn’t help in situations where you run into a 4 stack with unbreakable map control or you randomly meet a cheater or a legitimate Onyx 1800+ player.

They’re both ugly and obnoxious I will agree.

The only ones I really like is the Neon Beat run/spawn/slide effects as well as the kill effect as it at least gives the idea that this is all a simulation in a computer and not an actual battle.

As someone who didn’t mind the Effects, I have to agree now they’re now a bit obnoxious when trying to hear people through headphones.

Honestly would be awesome if they gave an toggle who don’t want to deal with the Loud FX so it’s fair for both parties like the Toggle the New Stuff in MCC

That’s all I’m saying. I don’t have them turned on, so I have no idea what the kill effect does on the end of the player actually using it. If they wanna hear the wolf howling in their ear, all the power to them.

But when I die at whirlpool and it points my camera at a wall, cause the guy dipped into pipes right after he killed me, I’m trying to sound @&)$# and tell my teammates whether he’s going attic or batt ledge. Can’t do that if all I’m hearing is a whoosh and howl for the first second or second and a half after I die.

I also never said that it was game breaking, to the people responding saying that I did. You’re obviously way more salty about my complaint than even I am if you’re blowing it out of proportion like that.

I’m calling it the inconvenience and annoyance that it is.

While we’re at it, we might as well throw the KOTH sounds in the mix. THOSE are obnoxious and loud enough to almost be game breaking. You can’t hear a thing over the sounds of the hill if you’re in or around it.

You won’t find me playing objective in KOTH, I’ll be cross map just firing on people from a distance.

Another thing that needed no “fixing”. Annoying and useless…

I hate it, and would pay for a way to not have them. You wanna pay for a cosmetic that’s your bag. Death sound effects are really ruining this game right now.

Don’t die so much and you wouldn’t have to hear the effect.

Dang, 4 years gone? Welcome back traveler. Agreed, but I don’t think muting the kill effect of other people on your end should be a paid feature. It was a massive oversight imo on the end of 343 that they play the effect for the dead target and not just the player who has it equipped. Should be a free fix.

Hearing it period is too much, since I don’t have it equipped. I shouldn’t hear the thing that someone else has equipped. The animation is one thing.

Don’t you know that’s the thing to do nowadays? Just find useless nonsense to waste time complaining about…
