As someone who doesn’t use the Armor Effect, Mythic Effect Set or Kill Effect, I find it very annoying when I hear someone else’s Kill Effect sound in my ear every time I die and I’m trying to listen for footsteps in the area surrounding my body.
There has to be a way to disable this. I’m not a fan, at all.
I don’t use my own for a reason. Extra sounds in-game are a big no.
You’re not alone. And people here seem vocal about it so I’m sure a slider and/or toggle will at some point be introduced.
As for me, I didn’t even notice you could hear other people’s kill effects. Sorta like speed lines: I didn’t even notice they were a thing until someone here complained how game-breakingly obnoxious they were.
Kill effects were something I just didn’t give much attention until this season. Then, after trying one on for a few games I immediately enjoyed it. But hopefully settings are introduced for those who do not.
I don’t remember them making sound until this season. So maybe it was broken? Or I just filtered it out and this season’s one is particularly annoying, lol.
Of all things to complain about, a one second sound when you die. This is a video game. Sound effects come with the territory. If you don’t like it, then don’t die.
I’m in the same boat as you; personally, I don’t like the look of Armor Effects, Mythic Effects or Kill Effects. I find the Kill Effects extremely annoying; as soon as you die there’s this giant obnoxious green wolf filling the screen, or a huge orange skull. I know 343 wouldn’t want to have a toggle for something like this because the way you monetize is by showing players cool stuff that other players own, but honestly, I doubt adding a toggle would hurt, since the players who don’t want to see these things have no interest in using or buying them for themselves.
The more effects they bring in, the worse it will get :-/ Wish I could just turn it off, as well as armour effects, it’s gonna end up looking like a light circus lol
Yeah you 100% should have the option to disable them, because it is VERY disruptive.
343i is pretty good about accessibility, but forcing bright lights like this imposed by other players AND loud sounds, is unintentionally ableist. These effects NEED to have a toggle. Even if the toggle is ONLY audio, it needs needs needs to be there.
I for one enjoy my little AWOOOOOOOOO every time I get a kill, legit helps keeps me happy, but I don’t want to force others to have to hear the howls. They’re for me and anyone who wants to hear them.
It’s a very odd and overly present sound indeed.
For me having Jeff and Lumu and friends already commenting on my kills is quite enough to be honest, glad the toggle for chatter is working.
I also hated the Killeffect from the very start for the simple reason: It is customsation that affects OTHER players.
It is not not your own screen beeing bathed in some random light (and personal opinion: ugly effect). I don’t sit around looking at the pretty lights flying out of my enemys corpse. But the other player gets this stuff shoved into their face, why?
I have no problem if other players use whatever stuff they like on their Spartans. But a direct visual assault on others screen?
Totally agree. It is beyond annoying to hear the whole game wolves howl or glass shatter. It is especially annoying when 8 people have a wolf kill effect on.
Wooooooooooooooooooohhh!!
Wooooooooooooooooooohhh!!
Wooooooooooooooooooohhh!!
Aaaaaaaargh!
There should be an option to turn this sound off ASAP.
I hadn’t and I will not buy something from the store but man… turning of this pathetic looking burning armor effetcs and kill effects… I would instantly pay them 20 bugs for.
I liked the Sakura Petals because they were peaceful, I love cherry blossoms, but now they sound like I just shot someone with a flower pot and wind chimes that crashed through shattering glass. It’s super bright, super loud, and super obnoxious.
Honestly… It’s kinda pretty funny. It’s the exact opposite of why I bought it, but I still keep using it, because it’s funny. I’m basically flashbanging people when I kill them. I hope we get a real flashbang kill effect someday.
